Am I the only one who hates Major Nelson?

Everyone knows major nelson, but am I the only one he pisses the crap out of?  He's a propaganda machine, and all he says is what microsoft wants him to.  There are only two things I hate more than what he does and those things are: 1. He tries to come accross as just an average guy who happens to work for Microsoft, and knows what's going on within the company.  He's a total fake.  2. People actually listen to and trust this guy.  Why are people so stupid as not to see past his lies and fabricated message of how cool xbox is.  I'll finish by clearing up that i'm not an Xbox hater, in fact it's by far my favorite console, but I absolutely despise Major Nelson's role in the Xbox marketing scene. 

Bottom Line: Please assure me that I'm not the only one who sees through the wall of crap this guy builds.

what does he lie about?  his posts are usually about factual stuff... nothing opinionated (most played XBL games, info about new updates, new DLC on marketplace).

i liked his persona until he talked about how Marketplace is handled... especially concerning the Hidden Fronts DLC for Gears.  the conversation pretty much went like this...

----- um yea... considering that without the popularity of Gears, the X360 would be washed up and behind the PS3 and Wii right now, i think you should be thankful for Epic to not only release a popular game... but to continually support it.  in the amount of time Gears has been out, they have probably made more DLC content then any other dev team out there.  cough*** Rare and Viva Pinata ***cough.

then there was that whole story about GHII, and who really handles the pricing in marketplace.  i would actually have more respect of MN just went up and said "yes... we decide the pricing for all DLC, and we will charge you for every piece of content that we get our hands on, which we get for free from these developers.  a company has to make profit somewhere, right?" 

I like his updates but I don't think hes much of a hardcore gamer, more like a casual player.BeNOwNz

Uh, Can you give a specific example of this blatant propaganda?   Yes, he's an employee of Microsoft but his blog and podcast is not his primary job function.   It's Director of XBox Live Programming.   See this link, http://www.majornelson.com/about.aspx.    If you had been listening to his podcasts on a regular basis then I'm not sure how you could come to this conclusion.

Actually I find his podcast fairly interesting and insightful.    Other than the HotSpot, it's my favorite podcast.   I usually go to his website daily to find out about updates.

c0mplex, seriously you need to get your facts straight.   You cannot quote someone (ie: put them in quotes), when you are not saying exactly verbatim what was said.   The podcast you refer to is this one:

a) It was E/Eric who said the comment in question... not Larry Hyrb/MajorNelson.

b) Also if you listen to the podcast, E does not say what you said in the quote.   I personally did not find it offensive but maybe something that could be taken out of context.    I'm not sure how you can say that E and Larry Hyrb aren't thankful for the success of Gears... this is something that Larry has mentioned several times in his past podcasts.

c) Gears of War is published by Microsoft so they do have some say on what the pricing is.    Guitar Hero 2 is not the same thing.. it's published by Activision...  Activision sets the final pricing working with the developer on their content.   Also the Gears of War maps will be free in September so if you don't want to pay for them now, wait till Sept.   Vote with your wallet.   If enough people go one way that will influence the publishers to lower their pricing.    Seriously content takes time to develop - labor of people that get paid salaries.   A company can give that for free but I don't understand the false expectation that it should be free.

Personally I like Major Nelson and of course he says what MS wants him to, ummm....

that's his job.

Yes major nelson is a fraud, a regular gamer acting like he's got inside info when it's really just a viral marketing campaign sponsored by MS. They are so greedy to be charging $50 for Live and not offering hardly any free content especially considering that there should be no fee to play online.CaptainCrazy

Hey.. maybe i'm just slow.. but i didn't get the reference.. are you trying to say that viva pinata doesn't have enough DLC?  I just ordered the game a few days ago and am still waiting for it to come in the mail so I really woudln't know

yeah im obviously serious, if you can't pick up the sarcasm there, then I don't know what else to do for you, I've been laying it on thick since my first post. but MN does not realize that we pay for xbl and dlc should be free if anything, he's just a microsoft fan boy that got hyped up in it a while ago and wants to support everyone of its decisions while he tries to appear to not to.
