Im sure im not, some of you 360 owners must have realised how great this is in fact, and are doing what im doing right now, which is keeping their noisy 360s in an enclosed area, first to quiet the thing down and as a nice side effect, so it RROD's again. My Elite RROD'ed a month ago, after 10 months of ownership and im guessing about 300 hours of play time. I had no Falcon, a noisy hitachi drive and crappy and amazingly noisy fans in the back that sounded like they were trying to propulse the thing out of my TV stand. The thing bricks, i call and get a box exactly 2 days later. I drop it off the same day on a wednesday and get another the week after on thursday. So i lost 10 days of 360 playing time. I get a Falcon, a quieter Benq drive, quiter fans and a free month of Live Gold. I get this deal for 3 years, meaning that with any luck this one will brick in a year and ill get a Jasper, or at the very worse a newer Falcon. Im not deliberately trying to break my 360 as often as possible, but the thing is noisy and im sorry but im closing the door of my TV stand on this thing.

So is the 360 a crappy piece of Hardware? it sure is, but for 3 whole years it ain't my problem, and on top of that i get a free newer and better model every time it fails. If i could get a deal like that for EVERYTHING else i own, i would be one happy camper.

Note: I live in Canada, from what i hear it takes longer to get your systems back from 360 heaven, but i also thing you get 3 months of Gold right? If not well... you get lower taxes.

That's not true at all. I have two Xbox 360s go on me and I got a refurbished one back both times. So has a friend of mine.

I don't. Mine broke down last year and I got a much louder 360 back - after just over a month of waiting. I had to buy a box and packaging to send it in, since they don't send out the "coffins" over here like they do in the US. All in all, not too good. The only positive was that I ended up digging out the PS2 to play during the entire month.

actually you get more live than you already had. You lost like 2 weeks but they give you a month back. Not saying I like rrod but they do what the can to make you a happy customer. Wouldn't mind rrod at all if you have like 10 years rrod warranty.

Terrible logic? Ok, well my RROD experience was great and i benefited from it, so as far as im concerned my logic works just fine. I got an free upgrade to from Zephire to Falcon, from Hitachi to Benq and a free 20 days of XBL gold (if you substract the 10 days i was without 360) Bottom line, i ended up with a much better console as a result. My 360 will be kept silent in a closed TV stand for the duration of the warranty, and will hopefully break again so i keep getting the upgraded hardware until i get a Jasper GPU for when my warranty expires. Obviously MS must hope this "terrible logic" doesn't spread too much, but hey learn from your mistakes, i wouldn't be doing this if it was built correctly in the first place. Oh and i too would rather have system that doesn't break, but if your refering to the PS3 ill keep my unreliable but warrantied 360 and the librairy of games it comes with instead, i have no idea what i would do with a PS3 at the momment.

As for other countries, i am not aware how your replacements work, so my "logic" was only valid for Canadian/US customers, i apologies.

As for Canadians getting brand new consoles, it happens but i didn't. The one i got was newer, manufactured 6 months after my original, but was not new, not sure where you got that.

OK, so what you're saying is that instead of keeping your console in good condition so you won't have to go to the hassle of sending it in for repairs, everyone should make their console RROD just to get a slightly upgraded piece of technology? IMO, if the console works fine as it is (not including the noise which btw isn't that big of an issue) why make it RROD on purpose to get some hardware you don't even really need? And when did I ever mention a PS3 anywhere in my post? I'm sorry but no matter what you say, thats messed up logic.

Oh im keeping my console in good condition, but im keeping it as i would any other well built console. Im not buying extra fan's or keeping it outside my TV cabinet, or putting dies underneath it so the eat dissipates. Im not ducktaping the ventilation holes either, or shoving a hair dryer on full next it just so it breaks, but im not gonna go out of my ways to care for a poorly built system because MS skipped on their QA to meet their rushed deadlines and beat everyone. All 360's are noisy and all 360's will fail sooner or later, the closer to launch your system is, the quicker it will happen. So by using my system normaly, it broke and i got a newer and better one. My logic is i want to make sure i get the best possible upgraded hardware available before my warranty runs out, im not paying for their mistake.

As for the "hassle" it caused, i barely had to do anything, only wait. Took me 10 minutes to drop it off and some arrange for pick-ups, wheres the hassle? It was easier than going to Best Buy to buy my original.

The PS3 comment wasn't aimed at you.
