You know people have been wondering for awhile how would you move around in a game world with kinect. Well I was thinking today how it may be designed and it would be simple. "You are the controller"

The kinect would calibrate where you are standing as a home position, (kinda like the middle position on a joystick)

Take a step forward towards the kinect and you would start walking forward take a step back to home postion and you would stop. The further forward you would go towards the kinect the faster you would walk. (Kinda like pushing the stick forward on the controller)

To turn right or left just step right or left. Step back on the home position and you would stop turning.

Then of course to go backwards just step back and then to stop walking backwards just step back to the home position.

To turn and walk at the same time just take a step diagonally.

All this just like you were the controller, and if you want to do some other actions I'm sure the developer would incorporate hand or voice actions.

I think this would be a good idea how walking could be put in RPG's or other games for kinect.

it would be more realistic than sitting on the couch of course, but hard for the lazy people.

You can still use the controller with Kinect so just do the same you would normally do. For games like rpgs and shooters just make Kinect more of a second option like to throw a grenade or to open a door.

I think that would be too tiring for lazy people :P. But, I do want to see this kind of gameplay on shooters. Just imagine you have to do those Football steps to run in the game and then you have to really crunch to take cover. Really exhausting, but, realistic. Better even guy a unloaded real riffle for true weight. I think it would be exilerating.magicalclick

At that point why not just go play paintball...why does Kinect have to be implemented in every genre? I think it will have its place but IMO it will not replace standard controllers.
