Any way to watch Divx AVI files on the 360?

yeah man. i just got done watching a avi file on my 360. just burn it to a cd and put it in the 360. go to your video's and press the x button. then just go to the cd that you put in and play your file. you will probably have to update your 360 to watch it, so you'll need live. hope that helps man.

someone on this site told me about it a few month's ago.. works great. i've streamed many xvids to my 360 from my pc.

Wait a minute. So if i update my console i can plug in my flash drive and watch an avi format movie?

I thought it only played origional or burnt movies from a disk

I have no problem streaming Xvid or DivX videos from my computer to my 360.
I just enabled music and video sharing though WMP, and eveything is good.

I see that you can stream movies to the 360 from the computer but can you put the movie on a flash drive and plug it into your 360 and access the movie from there and watch it when it is an avi format?

^^i'm pretty sure you can. just go to videos an press X on your controller and then click on portable device.

As long as your USB drive is in FAT32(which is the format they come in by default), then you have no problem. That is how I watch my Divx on my 360.

But i tried doing that some time ago and it didnt work and the format was avi so do you think all i need is the update? Or is there anything else i need to do?

You can watch movies via PC, Zune, Memory Stick, or External HDD.
