Mass Effect 2 made some bad decisions by getting rid of the Mako, planet exploration, inventory, and etc. Still enjoy the series though but I hope ME3 brings it all back but improves it.

I didn't like the first one because of the crappy vehicle sections (Mako); those segments took up a lot of the first game, and they were so loose and annoying.

I enjoyed the first Mass Effect game. But...ME2 was so disappointing. They took out so many things from the game and made it more of a shooter than an rpg. I hope they fix that and bring some things back in ME3.

Most people found it boring exploring planets in their Mako, that's why it was removed. For some reason, I enjoyed it... exploring until you found some anomaly was quite the adventure and a challenge if you cranked the difficulty to insane. Good times no doubt, hopefully some form of planetary exploration returns in ME3.

I just found it incredibly boring. I only played the first one, and the only thing I found fun in it was making your own decisions. I just never found space like games where you shoot lasers and crap fun, hence why I hate Halo games as well.

Mass Effect really isn't that fun. It MIGHT be innovative and original, but it's...just...so....boring.

I liked both games but there were things that I hated in both games. I hated the Mako, and the clunky inventory system in ME1. I hated the planet scanning, and lack of an inventory, and minimal RPG elements in ME2.

agreed, ME2 felt so dumbed down; little armour and weapon choices/customisation, only a couple of skills and they completely ruined the citadel, everything felt so small and linear

ME2 was honestly really fun...until the save system corrupted my file causing my character to go back to lvl 1. After that happened never touched the game again and back to gamefly it went.

Both games had their flaws. But I still loved them.

Starting with Mass Effect 1, the inventory system was horrible, the Mako was often very clumsy to drive and shoot andthe sidequests often featured the same exact warehouse over and over with little good loot to gain from em. It was also too easy to get the best weapons/armor in the gamefairly early on. But overall, the pros outweigh the cons. The graphics and art style are amazing and immersive. The main questline was interesting and had some great quests to take part in. The game world and the specific settings were beautiful and well-detailed. The combat was fun and the different classes all satisfying in their own way, particularly the biotic.

Mass Effect 2 was indeed stripped of many of its RPG elements, but I dont think this is such a bad thing. Its a shooter/RPG hybrid, and there's absolutely no reason why leaning more towards the 'shooter' aspect should automatically mean the game is worse. Personally, I found it the more enjoyable experience, as the RPG elements in the first game were fairly shallow anyways. The sidequests were more varied and interesting, the main quest was still quite epic, the combat was much more intense with good variety. My main problem was the tedious planet scanning. It was interesting for the first half an hour or so, but later on, it got really old and tiresome. I'd also have liked more variety and customization with regards to the weapons and armor. It wasn't bad in this respect, but I feel it could have been better and more satisfyingly integrated.

There's certainly a lot of room for improvement with Mass Effect 3, and it'll be interesting to see which direction they go with it. You'd think that with ME2's success, they'd stick to the more action-heavy formula, but I dont think this is gonna influence them too much from going the other way if they had some good ideas to play with.

Yea. Absolutely. My main wishlist for ME3 is for them to include space combat missions and something like a Firefight mode only in multiplayer.

I too miss the Mako and planetside exploration, it really gave you the sense of being in space, something that probing planets and checking your fuel between traveling doesn't make up for.

I completely agree with you. My biggest pet peeve was the leveling. I love the skill points system. It made leveing up very special in the first one. But with how they made it in Mass Effect 2, I hated it with a passion.

I much prefer Mass Effect 2's Vehicle Sections over the first (Mostly ones from DLC) (Seriously the Mako was just bad, awfully made). But the big problem I had with it was it's linearity within missions. I'd like a much bigger place to explore with several paths to take, each giving me something completely different happening. I didn't mind the lack of inventory, because I found Mass Effect 1's system so annoying, though I would like to see loot in the game and much more weapons, and I'd like to be able to customise them like you could with ME2's armor. And you could tell when you about to enter a gunfight by all the cover littered around the place, that got on my nerves a tiny bit. But other than that I do love the game.

But after levelling up certain skills too far, e.g. Assualt Rifles. You'd become way overpowered. That's what I prefered about the second game, it made you work harder for those points.
