Linksys you mean, and yes they are if you take the time to set them up correctly so you don't get crossed with other signals like Wi-Fi and other wireless devices in your home.

I think Linksys is the best router to use to go play online for Xbox Live. Netgear is ok.

Yes, so go with Linksys if you want to have a good router for gaming and your computers 100% reliable.

I own a Netgear router, and haven't had any problems whatsoever (connected my DS, PSP, PS2, Wii, 360, both of my PCs and my PDA since day one of plugging it in). Easy to setup and secure, and have never gotten disconnected from Live due to router problems.

If you want to connect your system, and it is out of reach of the router, or if you don't want to snake ethernet cable through your house, Wifi is a good alternative. I use Wifi and have very little lag, if at all.

So, a wired connection is the best connection?

You'll definitely want wireless, just so you don't have cords running everywhere. Just get a wireless router and the wireless adapter for the 360 - it works really well on even a weak signal. And if you're looking at getting a new wireless router, I wouldn't go ahead without at least looking at the Billion 7404VGP-M . It has amazing wireless coverage and a multitude of settings that can be tweaked to get the best out of your Xbox Live connection.

I was going to get the wireless router, but my 360 is close enough for a wired connection.

If it is reasonable to you, a wired connection is the best connection to your router -- it is secure, lag free compared to Wifi (Wifi IMO is good, but wired is better) and relatively cheap to connect. I connect with Wifi because I didn't want to have cable all over my apartment, but I would prefer wired if I could make the cables as unobtrusive as possible.
