Anyone Considering Playing MGS4?

You know I'm not a biased fanboy who goes on forums to bash how great my console is, so being a true gamer and not bound to one console, it would be natural with the rave response Metal Gear Solid 4 has recieved that I would be interested in testing out. To be honest it looks quite interesting, fast paced and engaging. I'll be renting a PS3 soon to try out and wether looking into the PS3 has a brighter future than it did.

So I'm posing the question wether anyone else feels the same way? Just because it's not on the 360 doesn't mean it's a bad game.

To be honest I get sick of fanboys, and I'm not being biased but Playstation fans seem to be the worst (but then again I don't visit too many playstation forums to be bashed by xbox 360 fans.) and it's funny I never see any Wii bashers.

I'm on my second play through now, trying to get my stealth camo and bandana. I've only touched my 360 to play a bit of H3 since MGS4 came out.

And on the Playstation fanboys being the worst, all fanboys for which ever console are as bad as each other. You wouldn't believe how many false "omg i put mgs4 in my ps3 and it broke my ps3" topics I saw created by other fanboys. I think its probably the worst things fanboys do, to try and scare people into not playing/buying games they really want to play. They can come on here and whine and cry about why their 360/PS3/Wii is better than any other consoles all they like, but to do that is downright mean.

I too am on my second playthrough on the game to try and get the stealth camo ( 5 mil dp's is too much ) and since i have gotten MGS4 my Xbox 360 hasnt been played on. MGS4 will amaze you.

I only have a 360 and I would probably try the game if I had a PS3 but I dont know for shure because the story isnt really the kind of story that I like, huge robots that have two biological legs and ninjas, two brothers totally diferent from each other (not a big problem). The only thing that I mighted like was the gameplay but still... its not my style of game

WRONG...I visit both forums and I can honestly say that some(NOT ALL) 360 and PS3 fans are the worst fanboys ever. The wii community has the most class and you rarely see anyone from their forums trolling on other boards.

I always said i would get a PS3 when it came down in price and when the big-hitter's started to come out for it

i will buy one when it gets one more price drop, which should be new the end of the year

i have played and beating the game twice, and i have to say its probably one of the best games i have ever played.etbny22

It's up there, I bought it as well. My honest opinion, too many cutscenes not enough gameplay. I love the gameplay, but there's so little of it. You can also be hit with up to 5-6 cutscenes in a row...You can skip them, but you'd be missing the story. I guess I just want it thinned out, all of the scenes were absolutely not necessary, so they should have added more actual gameplay.

It is a great game, but I still don't think it's the time to buy a PS3...YET.

Is it really that good? is the stealth like it used to be or is it more like a shooter now? i want to play it but i dont have a playstation and dont really have the money to buy one right now.mcsballa8

With all of the great reviews for MGS4 I really want to play it. I won't go out and buy a PS3 for it, but I really don't think ALL of the critics can be wrong. The one thing that really stuck out to me in all of the reviews of MGS4 was the fact that you could CHOOSE how you wanted to play the game. Many reviewers said you could run through the game as a shooter a la Halo and Call of Duty...OR...you could sneak throughout the game without hardly killing anyone. I think that is pure genius because it opened the game up to a whole new audience while still keeping in line with the hardcore fans. For that reason MGS4 really intrigues me.

I bought GTA4 when it came out even though I had never played it before. I had my own personal vendetta against the PS2 since it killed my Dreamcast. That game was really engaging so I really want to play this game, but I won't go out and buy a PS3 for it.

If there's any game this generation that someone shiuld consider buying a system for it's MGS4. Easily the best game of this generation. It's kind of sad that the big sites handed a 10 to GTA4. I bet they wish they could take that back so MGS4 is the only 10 rated game this year. NEVER has storytelling been done so well in a game.

Really want to play it, one of my best series ever. Although I really wanted it, it doesn't really making me feel like trading my X360 for a ps3. I don't think I will ever play it since I'm apparently broke for the year... Tough luck.

On a side note, I've never regretted buying my X360 regardless of my financial status.

I have played/watched for about 3-4 hours, and I am still on the fence with it. The actual game play parts seem fine, having the choice of stealth or action is nice, but I still have a tough time with some of the akward animations. To me it just doesn't feel natural.

My big problem with the game are the cut scenes. Yes they help tell a story but the ones I have seen so far aren't that interesting. I will reserve total judgement for once I finish the game.

The MGS series has always, and still is, my favorite video game series ever. IMHO better than Halo, Half-Life, etc etc as far as story and gameplay. So yes, as soon as that stimulus check comes in, or if I can save enough from work I'll be getting myself a PS3 and MGS4, plus I want to re-buy/e-play the old ones. :) But I still love the Xbox 360!

I put MGS4 in my 360 and it broke it...

Instead of renting the PS3 and the game, take the $40-50 or whatever you would pay to rent it and put it towards a PS3 and MGS4. It's a must have game. It's the best game I ever played and that's saying a lot, because I'm really picky. And you wouldnt just be buying the PS3 for MGS4, although it would be well worth it, by itself - you'll get to enjoy great games like Resistance 2, Little Big Planet, Final Fantasy 13 and FF13 versus, God of War 3, and many more games. So if you're not bound to one console like a bias fanboy, you should have already purchased a PS3 by now. And you seem like you have some sense in ya to at least consider buying one. But what doesnt make sense to me is why haven't you considered this a long time ago?

They troll constantly on their own boards. Can't tell you how many times i've heard this."Wii's owning the other consoles in sales and non-motion sensor games are dead." Anyway i'll be getting a ps3 by christmas and i'll certainly buy MGS4. I just wish they'd create a bigger controller..

I ended up getting it and it's one of the most impressive games I've ever played. This is the first game that I can say truly rivals Gears of War in the graphics department... the story, while heavy on melodrama that sometimes leans towards silliness, is oddly moving for a video game as well.

Plain and simple, if you own a PS3, get the game. If you don't, consider getting one.

PS - Glad to see that some other people around here can talk about an opposing console without being a fool... though this topic will probably get locked because 99% of the moderators can't hear about opposing consoles without being fools.
