They're horrible deals. Places like Amazon can get you better deals on new games, even older and rarer ones. Screw it. Some of their XBLA games aren't even worthy of their price tags. Until every other place in the world is out of a particular game or if MS somehow "uncharacteristicly" has a whopping price cut, Games On Demand will have even less of an inpact on me than the friggen Last.FM update coming later this year. not to mention with my 20GB hard drive, there's no room for much, anyways.
Games on Demand is total crap. The prices are way off, for example: I can go buy ME new for the same price, but with the DLC already included. Not to mention to actually play these my poor 20/13gb HDD will cry at the DL size, and to upgrade storage I'll have to buy an incredibly expensive proprietary hard drive. MS's E3 conference made it sound like this was something new and interesting, needless to say I was disappointed.
the real overpriced game on here is ridge racer i just bought it for $5.40 used at gamestop yesterday its $19.99 on the on demand lol had the same thought bout most the xbox originals too $15 for max payne ithats another game i paid $2.99 at gamestop for get real microsoft
It's a great and innovative step by Microsoft, I just don't see myself using it. I would rather have my games in a physical manifestation for collector purposes, and the prices are over the top.
I just feel like that's not how full games should be distributed. Arcade games, yes, but not full games.
I dislike both the games on demand and the avatar marketplace. I mean they were both inevitable, but the games on demand are atotal ripoff. I could get all of those games in tangible form for less, and the avatar items are overpriced. Its bad enough that we even have avatars. I feel like if they gave gamerpics away for free its basically advertising, we pay to advertise for them.
I guess wierd was the wrong word to use. How about odd? It doesn't feel write not putting a disc in the xbox and having the manaul. The only way i would ever use games on demand is for classic xbox games.
They made it sound new and interesting because Microsoft more than anyone wants to push digital distribution. They want to start selling games without making a hard copy. If their plan were to succeed (Which if this was their testing ground, I foresee failure) you could expect games on the next xbox to be the same price as in stores now, you just don't have the choice any more.Games on Demand is total crap. They are trying to not only cut out the middle man (The stores which get a profit off of the games), but they are also getting rid of manufacturing and you the consumer get nothing new or improved. In fact, you get less hard drive space.
Some people are just too lazy to guy a game why not do it in the comfort of your own home...then again it will bite the BLAM! out your hard drive.
The prices are very unreasonable. The new Oblivion and Bioshock bundle in stores is 39.99 and each game separately on demand is 39.99.lessthan3jamesBioshock is 39.99???Hell no i already have it but wow thats TOO much when that game is like 20 bucks now
I don't like the concept of games on demand there are too many flaws with the system. First of all it costs the same, in some cases more, as the games you would buy in a store. This is nonsense to me because there are so many factors that should drive the prices down. You do not get a physical copy of the game so why is it the same price of a product that they had to burn a dvd of, make a case and booklet, ship and all other fees associated with real products? The issue also becomes there's no competition to regulate the price, it is not like there are things taking up shelf space that will ever need to be cleared, you are just taking a digital copy which then you get to enjoy having a chunk of your hard drive to have. Now you've paid the full cost to lose HDD space, and probably have to take your hard drive with you whenever you want to play at someones house with the kicker of no resale or trade value. How ever if they set this up as a rental service then I could see a future here.XT-inc
To tell you the truth they don't cost the same cause if you think that some Best Buys are comparing prices with used games from Gamecrazy and Gamestop that means that it would be cheaper to purchse them at your local store.
Innovative? You really bought into their rhetoric didn't you? PS3 has had a few full games, and PC has had DD for ages. This isn't innovative, MS just told you it was. It's a great and innovative step by Microsoft, I just don't see myself using it. Its like steam on the pc.
Difference then being, that a modern pc has a good deal of harddrive space, and a 500 gig harddrive costs less then a 120 gig for the xbox.
But the games are also overpriced on steam.
Atleast when they try and cut out the middle man, and give you no cool box or manuals, one would think it would be a hell a lot cheaper on such a service.

Well that is what I meant, that they are either the same price or cost more money than in stores, so store prices will be cheaper and they include all the other costs to have a physical product which takes up limited shelf space and they have to sell them.[QUOTE="dmgonzales0378"][QUOTE="XT-inc"]I don't like the concept of games on demand there are too many flaws with the system.
