Here's my educated (backed by hands-on time with it) opinion on the said title:

I got my pre-order card for access:

And I downloaded it, played it, changed my pants, and then played it 2 more times. Holy crap!

This is one unique and insanely awesome action game. Mind you, the beginning tutorial-like area, which is the most badass tutorial ever, is linear, but the rest of the game will be open world, heavy metal, insanity!

The action is just fun. You have your axe which you can use to slice and dice foes, decapitating them into bloody chunks! You'll also get new moves. One combo lets you slice and dice, then fling your enemies body into the atmosphere! Another moves brings you and the chick together for some epic ass kicking badassery.

Then you have the guitar, which rains down lightning and brings fire upon your enemies!

Oh, then you get to ride this badass walker down a heavy metal mountain of skulls with a great view!

Then you get to jump into the deuce, your badass vehicle (which isn't the only one you'll get in the game, btw. you can also upgrade the vehicles in the full game.), and bring hell upon your enemies while zooming around and flying off ramps.

Then you'll take on a big and ugly monster, which is the first boss!

Oh, and the music and story are badass, too, of course.

Get ready for Tim Schafer's next masterpiece, Brutal Legend! :D

It just doesn't appeal to me.

I don't like the concept and it looks like a button masher, which doesn't appeal to me at all.

My rebuttal. The game concept is intellectually lacking. I think that this game has been so overhyped that it will not live up to it's praise, and ultimately, everyone will be disappointed. Except maybe people who think the use of the word "retarded" when describing a game is offensive.I have a feeling those guys will enjoy it thoroughly....

If you've played any of Tim Shafer's games, you'll know that he has a knack for executing on seemingly ludicrous ideas. That's what his library is predominantly made of. But each time, he injects a visual sty1e and sense of humor that fits.

Nope, I think it will be my favorite game this year. My two favorite things, metal and games combined.

I think it looks stupid also, but then I am not a huge Jack Black fan. I don't know what the game is like though, because I've never played it, and I'm not gonna sit here criticizing a game when I could be discussing games I do like.

What does Madden or Halo have to do with it? No one in this discussion has compared it to either of those games. Brutal Legend looks to be a mediocre game with an A-list voice-over cast.

I'm definitely excited for it. It has Metal, humor, and I personally like Jack Black.

Game looks different, that & its metal theme is enough to get a play through from me.

I never understand the logic behind "Tim Schafer made this game so it MUST be good!" or "it has metal in it, so I HAVE to buy it". There is always the possibilty that Tim Schafer will make a game about metal and it will end up being a turd.

How many people bought Fable becausePeter Molyneux made it and ended up being mad it was only 6 hours long? Will Wright's Spore didn't turn out to be the game everybody thought it would be either.
