It does, I beat half the gates and wished I closed them all. People have totally beat it.

I think the gates keep randomly appearing so you can't close them all.

Yes, its possible to beat Oblivion... although it took me the whole last summer to do so. But it was worth every dorky second.

More like 50 gates. I have closed more than 30 before finishing the main quest but I keep finding more when travelling around doing the rest of the quests and missions.

Are you serious? I beat everything the game had to offer in a little over 100 hours. It was fun for about the first 20, but after that the generic quests and level scales made it a chore. I kept playing, and playing hoping I'd find a quest where I didn't have to kill anything, but sadly there's not many of those in the game.

Took me 120 hours to finish absolutely everything in the game (including Knights of the nine, all official mods and Shivering Isles). It was extremely boring to say the least. Morrowind was so much better and much much longer.

Does the ending depend on how many gates you closed? I found Oblivion quite easy overall.

Sad to say I just managed to close 1 gate, do the money selling trick with the lady Ogre, bought some what I think cool stuff then finally decided to eject the cd and play another title. :(

I beat the game in 160 hours. I did not do everything in the game. I did not finish the guilds. I did get the dragon armour after I beat the game. You have to wait three weeks in the game's time. I think if I did everything in the game guide it would probably take me 300 hours to beat the game.

I closed several gates, beat almost all the major sidequests, and finished dozens of lesser ones. I can't even remember how many hours I spent in that game, but it was probably a personal record for a single character. It could be beaten, but frankly I got tired and wanted to start playing multiplayer online again. Now I've stopped doing even that. :(

I have put about 250 hours into oblivion, It only took me around 7-8 hours to beat the main quest, but all those extra hours have been spent doing ALL the guilds sidequests and donwloadable content, not to mention that I spent decent amount of time getting three of my cahracters to lvl 48, 49, and 47. I like have max characters in each line of specialization so that I can try out any of the benefits that class has over another. And I do believe there are around 50 gates, which I closed. So yes it is possible to beat Oblivion. It is the single best RPG(yes even beyond FF7 and FF10 which I loved) I have ever played...IMO

I'm playingit on the PC with a ton of extra content, Obsuro's Oblivion Ovblivion overhaul (adds 1 gig of extra content, Knights of the 9 plus all other plug ins, and Shivering isles... Its a much better idea to get it on the PC because of mods, makes the game twice as fun.

Pretty sure after you do the main quest all the gates are gone. I beat the main quest in like 30-40 hours I think and I still do other side quests or just raid dungeons, and have yet to find another open gate.

Getting all of the achievements is not the same as beating/finishing a game.

yeah, that's what I've done. And i beat knights of the nine and shivering isles.

I've played the crap out of this game. I still play it so much though. There's still alot of places to go and things to do!
