Had my first for a year starting June 06. It started freezing a lot but didn't get the RROD. I had it replaced anyway, as a precaution. I've had my new one for a year now. It runs perfectly.
i had mine for about a year an it broke, no warranty, so 2 months l8r i saved up an bort a new one an ive had it for 1.5 months now an its still workin
It took 6 months to get my 1st hardware failure, & then I found the true problem, sending it in for repairs. After sending it it for repairs that 1st time afterwards it didn't last more than 3 months each time and I got the 3 red rings 3 more times. They finally fixed it right after sending it in 4 times.
I got mine February '06, RROD happened a few months later, my second xbox has had much longer life span, but has a pretty nasty disc reading problem with it.
I've replaced my console twice, and i'm throwing in the towel for the 360.
Don't get me wrong, the Xbox 360 has a better online community, a better online service, and much,much better games with more of a variety. But the console sucks, sorry.
I had my xbox360 since 2005, it took about a couple of years for me to have it. but now i got a new one . works perfect. i think it's best to just play the xbox . just don't mind the problem and the experince will be much much better.
I got RROD briefly had a power surge so had to reset it. turned out i didn't have RROD, my laser just got fried so i had to pay $100 bucks.......had it for 1 year
My launch system lasted 2 days. Second one I got a month after the first lasted about a year. Got an Elite August 07' and it lasted until last month. Now I got my elite back from repairs, and am going to send off the Premium that I didnt send off last year. :P
I got my 360 in early Spring '06 and it has never been replaced or fixed. I had the RROD a few times, but it was because my powerblock was overheating, because I had it in a semi-enclosed space. So, technically no real problems.
I got mine with the first batch for the Christmas of 05. I got the red rings of death about 2 months ago, but microsoft go my xbox back really quick so it was no big deal. I had it for about 2.5 years with no problems. Seemed like a good run.
i'm on my fourth, and ironically each system has lasted 7 months. i finally sold for an elite, and the console i sold RRoD recently, but the elite is still going strong after 8 months, so it broke my curse. altho i've had a few problems out of it, mostly scratching my disks while stationary. i'm hoping this one lasts longer since i dont play it near as much since i play most mulitplat games on ps3 so that i dont gotta worry about the RRoD as badly.
Bought mine on release day. Ran fine until a month or so ago. I actually got the RROD on EXACTLY 2 YEARS TO THE DAY that I purchased it. Have had it back now for a month, a runs fine so far. Prior to that had no problems what-so-ever.

lucky you :P But that is a bit of a sad statement in itself... I mean, for a product that costs $300 one doesnt expect these kind of things to happen... :S anyway, this is an old argument, lol. The 360 is a great console, and at the same time, it kinda sucks.

Well yeah, the product itself is made cheaply, but the hours of fun you get out of it are worth the hassle. (Or in my case, lack of hassle.) I actually had the powerblock in a drawer in my desk, with only 1 open end to it. So it was like a little oven. Haha It was my own fault.
I've had mine since Oct 2006, and no problems yet, but I think its because I don't play the thing for long durations at a time. I find it best to allow it time to cool.
