Basically, I sent my xbox in, because it could not read discs, and they sent me back and I took a look at it. I am sure they put in a BenQ dvd drive, due to the fact if you take off the faceplate, and see the hole above the controller ports, and the wires are WHITE. Anywho, I am wondering if they actually put BenQ dvd drives in an older xbox, because my manufacture date is 2008-3-20, and I either have the Zephyr/Xenon, and then I looked at the Watt, and it reads 16.5 which is the original power supply. So do they use your old casing? or what? thanks for your help.

If that was the problem, then yes... they probably just replaced the disc drive...

All they changed was the DVD drive, it doesn't matter how old your console is. All 360s from May will actually have the newer DVD drivers (Updated Lite on drivers). This means if you send your 360 in for any reason they're poping it in. I sent mine in for RROD they gave me the new drive even though I didn't need it. The motherboard is still the same and nothing else is changed. For them to give you one of the newer boards they would also need to give you a new powersupply since the newer boards uses a different model.

What he/she said. Also, there's been an update of the LiteOn drives recently. So what you've heard about the identification of benQ vs Liteon is no longer 100% applicable. All drives since May last year are in fact LiteOn and the drives in the past month or so are a different model from the ones that were being put in at this time last year. tl;dr. You have a LiteOn drive without a doubt. The real question is, does it really matter? If it works, I'd count my lucky stars and just play to my heart's content.

So you are saying that all new drives are going to be Lite-On from now on? But heres the kicker, isnt Benq considered a better dvd drive? I also, dont think I had my xbox fixed in may and on, I really think I may have had it done in Feb? Not too sure, whatever it was, it wasnt really that long ago. But its good to know that they have changed the DVD drives. so Really, the only way to find out is too pop open my xbox.

We've seen videos of people being killed. To some extent, we've also seen it in movies. While you sit back and possibly laugh at the video, it doesnt strike you very much because its just pixels. But its much different when you see it in person.
