I got mine on launch day and it had worked perfectly until last night when I was playing Mass Effect and it red ringed. I was so depressed especially since I've also had to return two rock band guitars already since they broke as well.
This past month has been a cruel mistress...
Mine was launch. Died on me last night after 20 straight hours of playing Mass Effect. Suprised it lasted this long, but the last month has been hell on it.dlindenb2000
sorry to hear that im still on my launch console, its SHINY lol
so basically anyone got their consoles from launch, played it since and played it for hours till today and not have any problems such as the RROD? ive had it twice, but i got mine fixed and its been working fine ever since.. so what i've basically heard is only a handful of people's 2005 360's survived the following yearsJericho721
I got 2 xbox 360, one launch one a bit later, both are working 100% great and nevere EVER had any problems with them, no PROD or disks scratched or things like that, that people get ONLY because they do not know how to handle the machine

Got mine at launch...never had the RROD, except i did get 3 red light once, but that was because of a sudden blackout

that last statement is a complete fabrication dude.... i have 50,000 dollars worth of audio video components sitting in my front room and i take immaculate care of my "babies". all 4 of the 360's that have died on me simple got the RROD one day, no warning at all. no freezing, no crashing, no weirdness what-so-ever.
had mine since launch with no problems except the odd time when the discs won't read.
i really want to get Mass Effect but have heard alot of people complain that it caused their system to crash...any thoughts?

I only had the disc read problem once when I first put ME in to start up and it froze up on me once in game, but that's it. Don't let what you hear about the game "crashing systems" stop you from getting this great game. I haven't heard of ME crashing any systems, just an occasional freeze for most and a disc unreadable once in awhile. If you get the game just save it somewhat often and you won't lose much of anything.
EDIT: Oh yeah, BTW I have had mine since Feb. '06.

Yeah thats a very bad statement, you will dislike it yourself when you have 3RROD, I had a 3rrod after 1and half year of use. But then I did the Xclamp removal trick to overcome it and i successfully came over code error 0020 which is considered incurable. I must say for bad or good 360 has been hacked and moded heavily which makes even certain defects like 3rrod and D-pad inefficency removed.

I'll back this up to an extent: I've had LONNNNNNG days playing ME (5,6, 7 hours) and put 38 hours in my first play through. 360 bought on 12/22/05. No problems.
ME is a great, fantastic, generation defining classic game. Don't miss out!
