awhhh is the community really dead?? I was thinking about picking this up again since it's only 9.99 now, but not if it's totally dead... what a shame. it's so much better than 2.

No, it's not dead. Not even close. I have no problems finding games at all. Most people just don't use mics or quit out after dying once.
