Hey I'm new to xbox and really am unsure of which console to purchase. for $199.99 the Arcade console comes with the wireless controller and 1 game i think for $299.99 I can get the pro with 60gb hard drive and 4 games ( Assassins creed, Kung fu panda, rainbow vegas 2, lego: indiana jones ). Now i read a lot of posts and most people recommend the pro because of the hard drive but im not sure what i would need the hard drive for... i mainly want the xbox to avoid going online.. i use to play on the pc but I've grown tired of online play so would i still require the memory if i don't plan on downloadin patches or upgrades for games. Or do i still need to upgrade and use patches even if i am offline. Thanks in advance
Oh as well after hearing the problems with the core console i was wondering if either arcade or pro have experienced any problems cause a friend told me that the pro has been known to overheat where as the arcade has been fine
You still need the patches but there not memory hogs so feel free to get an arcade.(You dont get four free games with the Pro. You get two with wichever one you choose.) The newer models come with the jasper chips and I would belive the pro is actually better when it comes to the heating problem.
You're more than likely to get the newer Jasper model when you buy the Arcade. Jasper is the most cost-effective production method for Microsoft, so you'll probably see them more in their cheapest offering: The Arcade. Anyways, I think a hard drive is a necessity if you plan to play online or just get the best of what the Xbox 360 has to offer.
Yeah I'd have to recommend getting the Pro model. It may not seem like much of a difference now, but in a bit you might wan that storage, whether it be to install games, or get additional DLC. Just having that space there is great and if you did decide to get an HDD down the road the 60GB on its own is more than the difference between the Arcade and the Pro.
