IF you cut online from the system, that leaves you either singleplayer or offline multiplayer gaming.
Singleplayer wise... well you have Bioshock, Mass Effect, Oblivion and such. Hmm...
Offline multiplayer, I'm going to say, is terrible on the 360. It's not the games or the system itself... it's the whole audience. Look, say you buy Halo 3 and become pretty good. Then if you invite a friend over, he's going to get pwnt 9 times out of 10 = not fun for him.
360 is a hardcore gamer land. The games will naturally have high learning curves. Unless you have X360 friends, it's going to be hard to just throw a random friend versus you in a game.
If you want offline multiplayer, I suggest getting a Wii. The new control scheme is just fun in itself to use. Games like Mario Strikers seem to have easier learning curves.
Singleplayer... Well, it depends on taste. 360 seems to have the mature titles like Bioshock and Mass Effect. Nintendo has Metroid, Zelda... Super Mario Galaxy. Nintendo first party games mostly.
Offline multiplayer-wise, I'd get a Wii, just because it seems to be easier to get into than say a typical hardcore 360 game. Singleplayer wise, it's down to either Nintendo's first party games vs. Xboxes more mature games. I'd go with Xbox here, since although Zelda and Metroid are fun, they have this formula sort of thing. Somehow on this episode of "Metroid/Zelda" Samus/Link has lost their items again! When you beat so-and-so dungeons, you get the item back! Again!
Then there's Mario Sunshine... but then again, I don't see strong plots in these games.
Plot-driven gameplay, that's my type of games, so I'm headed over to the Xbox.
Singleplayer games: Xbox
- mature plots, original games
Offline multiplayer: Wii
- small learning curve, curiosity of controller
