They're just meaningless points, why get so riled up about them in the first place? If someone really likes having a big Gamerscore, who are we to deny them.monco59I have nothing against people,I'm just saying that too many people care more about getting points then playing more fun. i like them both but I take fun over it.

I love getting achievements. It gives me a sense of accomplishment for something which I rarely get honestly. But I do play for fun and if I get the achievement then good but if I dont get it the first time around then Ill go back and get it later.

As long as you're having fun, that's all that matters. The number of your gamer score does not indicate how good of a gamer you are. They are just an added incentive to give gamers something to strive for.
i usually play, and hope i get achievements along the way, and thats how i think it should be, however some games, such as dead rising, add replay value, ALOT of replay value, if you have achievements. and plus, they can give you a sense of "beating" online multiplayer

Exactly. I get an achievement its like, hey great.. but I don't go out of my way to try and rack up the points. I quite frankily couldn't care.
The easiest way to do it is to keep playing a variety of games including crap games. Not my style.
No, the points don't make it less fun, maybe it keeps people hard and it sure if gives people something to work towards but personally when I see someone with high achievement points I just think "damn man get off your ass and go for a jog or play with your kids" thats all. It's someone's time, and hopefully it's keeping more people out of trouble, atleast if your on a xbox doing that your not out committing crimes or causing any kind of trouble.  That's my positive spin on the whole thing. I really doubt that's what microsoft was going for though lol. Points only mean something to people who care about them.

Achievements are the main reason why the 360 will win this years console role. Because Achievements increase the life of a game and draw game makers to make their games for the 360 because people like to earn their aceivements, and cause people to play the game longer.
Just think about it. You have all 3 consoles and a game is coming out for all three consoles. PS3 is ruled out beacue there is nothing special about it. The 360 will increase how much and how long you'll play the game, and the Wii because of the "fun" factor.Â
I personally enjoy acheivements very much. I like to show off my points and my acheivements becasue I am very proud of them. It shows what games I like to play and how good you are. Acheivements are very original which is more than I can say about the copycat system in the PS3.
