Hi, I just got my xbox 360 premium with hdmi, but it doesn't come with a cable. I looked around at best buy and the cheapest cables were $50. I checked online at amazon and im finding some for $5 dollars or less. Is there any difference in quality between the cheaper and more expensive cables?

well i actualy work at best buy and do home theater installs

so with hdmi since its all digital the quality of the signal will be no different between different cables

only difference in quality is how well they are made.

but get a middle priced cable nothing to cheap but you definetly dont need the monster cables theyre a complete ripoff we get them for about 10 percent of the cost with our discount

Don't worry, a 3$ cable off Ebay will do the same job. HDMI is purely digital, theres either a signal or there isn't, it doesn't lose quallity like analogue. Those overpriced cables are useless.

What you are really paying for with the expensive ones is longevity, but it is nowhere near a big enough difference to warrant the price difference.

No matter what, to be certified HDMI, a cable has to pass certain tests and stuff anyway.

I've tested a $7 HDMI cable on my PS3, as well as a $100 HDMI cable and I could not, nor could anyone who came over, spot a difference in quality. Needless to say I returned the expensive cable and proudly embraced my cheapo cable.;)

My opinion on cables is they either work or they don't. I'd just get the cheap one from amazon. Most electronic stores just wany your money and force the Monster Cables on you. I don't think I would be able to tell a difference between a super high quality cable and a regular one, but then again even if there was I bet it's so slight that I'd rather have the extra money in my pocket.
