Over the last month or so we saw the release of Bayonetta, Darksiders and Dante's Inferno. I'm not sure about Dante's Inferno as I have yet to play it, but Bayonetta and Darksiders were both phenomenal hack n' slash action games. They had an old-skool feel to them, sporting classic third person views, and health bar systems. Do you think this will give birth to a chain of hack n' slash style games?

I was unaware they ever went anywhere. The hack and slash genre is actually fairly new in the grand scheme of the of the game industry. Oh and Darksiders is an Adventure game first and foremost, it just use's combat similar to an Hack and Slash game.

Hack n' slash combat in RPGs isn't really what I mean. I mean straight up wall to wall action. Outside of the three games I've mentioned, and DMC4, I can't really think of any others that appeared on 360. Especially not lately

Oh then yeah you're right... there hasn't been alot PURE hack n slash games, there has been combinations with RPG's like Too Human but that game is atrocious lol.

I'm thinking Bullet Witch might fit the bill, but I can't find a demo of it on XBL to test-drive it.

Bayonetta was great, but Darksiders and Dante's Inferno were both meh, despite being over-hyped to the point of insanity.

You just brought back bad memories of night time levels with a mutated werewolve version of Sonic...very tedious.

I've seen a lot of Hack N' Slashers out lately. Fresh ones I mean.
They'll get flattened come the release of games like Halo: Reach. Although, I suppose in a way you have Fable 3. But thats more for the RPGers. Getting both btw :D

The new Castlevania game coming out on 360/PS3 looks amazing. I've only played the snes version (i think it was Castlevania 4) and never really had any interest in playing any of the 100+ sequels they've spewed out over the years, but the new third person perspective/overall gameplay seems really impressive and will likely get a lot of hype around release time.

I've just finished Dante's Inferno, it probably didn't live up to the hype, but it was good fun. Just about to start Darksiders.

I believe Afro Samurai was another one.

Hmmm, I must check Afro Samurai out. Seen it on the selves a few times, but never paid it much attention. The Castlevania game that was mentioned also sound like it would be worth checking... for old time's sake.
