I've never played a Resident Evil game. Are they good and if so is it worth it to pick one up now?

RE4 is really good. The other games aren't anything amazing. You can probably get RE4 for about $30 now so it's well worth it.

Well growing up with them and being a big zombie fan i love the games!

They are all really good and i prefer playing the older ones because of the gameplay. It was alot harder to survive in the older titles and you had to actually play intelligently if you were going to escape. In the latest games it just seems aboutfiring enough bullets. But dont get me wrong, they still are really good games.

Definatly get one, i promise you wont regret it :D

One of my friends told me that the RE4 controls are horrible and that he got bored of it in 20 minutes. Is this true?

No way lol

You will definately finish it more than once. Gameplay is differed from older RE games but since you havent played them, wont effect you.

Buying any of the RE games will deliver one hell of a gaming experience, i must of finished RE4 like 6 times lol. You get to keep your guns from the first save, so you can upgrade and stuff. Also you unlock a new difficulty level which i had too do.

if he said he got bored within 20 minutes, I don't know the guy, but from what you're telling me it does sound true.

I didn't get bored with it.

The first RE titles taught me to love killing zombies. Then came Dead Rising.

But seriously, RE games are really great. Not ALL of the titles though...

This is what I think of the other Resident Evil games = MEH

This is what I think of Resident Evil 4 = EPIC YEAAAAAH!!!

You get my point. If you have a Wii get the Wii edition. It's the best. Then it's the gamecube version (second best), PS2 version (third best), and PC vesion (Horrible! Only get it as a last resort if you can't get the others. This game is definitly worth playing. I;m on my 57th run through of the game. And yes, I do have a life. I have achieved this over a long time.

Bottom Line = Wii Edition All the Way!

Dude, what your friend said about the controls is a .... LIE!!! They are easy, especially on Wii. Besides, if you have the Wii Edition and a GameCube controller, you can always use that and play it old school, but after playing with the Wii controls, you won't be able to go back to using a gamepad. Trust me. You actually shank people by slashing using the remote.

Yeah, I have. The game came out a long time ago. Like I said before, it took many years to get to the 57th round. By the way, I play other games like Gears of War, Halo 3, Galaxy, Corruption, and am waiting for Resident Evil 5. Don't tell me you've never liked and played a game extensively, before.

All the Resident Evil games had great gameplay, story, puzzles, exploration, etc. RE4 is a button masher game with no puzzles and no exploration. The whole game you shoot and walk on an endless linear path. The storyline absolutly terrible and does not make any sense at all. The president loses his daughter and sends one man to save her. In the game you save her and lose her about 8 times.

Resident Evil 1, 2, 3, and four are great games. Resident Evil 0 and CV were also good but by that time the way you control your characters should have been improved. Resident Evil 4 is a great game, I belive it was also Gamespot's GOTY.

There weren't a lot of puzzles in Re4, but you have to admit that thre WERE some. Besides, I kind of like the emphasis on shooting instead of the old awkward camera angles.

RE2 was great when it came out back in 1999,i was like 11 at that time and it scared the hell out of me, damn those Lickers... but it doesnt hold up well now...RE2 will always be one the best games ever, imo. As for RE4...even tho it came 2 years ago, it is still good enough to kick any game's ass that came after it, hands down the best game ever made imo.

RE1 and 2 are great games on the PS. RE4 is a decent game for the PS2. But NO there are no Resident Evil games for the Xbox or the 360. I have read "Land of the Dead" is horrible for the xbox, but "Dead Rising" is supposed to be a great game. I will probably buy it soon.

p.s. i hear that RE5 will not have zombies (like in RE4) which kinda bums me out. I like killing flesh eating monsters. RE4 they were just angry villagers. Not the same thing.

If you want a good introduction into the new approach the game is taking, go for Resident Evil 4, its amazing. If you want genuine survival horror, which is very difficult but alot more atmospheric, go for the ones prior (get Resident Evil on the GC if you have it its an amazing remake with excellent graphics). Looking forward to 5 alot too.

I hope they have more vehicles that you can ride besides boats and trucks on which you shoot enemies off. I hope, the plaga sample obtained at Re4 will be somehow mixed with the T virus which will cause some awesome cross breed which you get to fight in Re5. Think about it. It'll be a great way to combine both the modern day Re and style with the old school. I hope Capcom goes qith that. I've aslo got my eyes on the CG movie Resident Evil: Degeneration.
