No it wasn't. The new premiums were built to fix the premium problems. The elite is out just as an even more advanced 360.The elite was built to fix the preniums problems.

So what makes the Elite better than the premium, performance wise?Rulsis
games wont play differently, you just run less chance of over eating because of the new heat dispersion system inside!

I'm sure that the fail rate of the elites are way lower than the old consoles but none the less there it is. Also there is another video he made with his 360 in its original tv cabinet but it had almost no ventilation in there.

Elite>prenium>core

I don't know that I agree I got a core system in January and I've never had a problem with it but the insanely loud fan but that's normal. Maybe I just got lucky though and got a good one.

He's sort of right. The new revision of Zephyr mainboards were created to lessen the chance of your Xbox 360 breaking. They shrunk many things on the mainboard (excluding die-size) and added an additional heatsink on the videocard. They also changed the disc drives from Hitachi to BenQ ones to decrease the noise and stop the disc scratching. Both the Xbox 360 Elites and Xbox 360 Premiums w/ HDMI come with the Zephyr boards so they both reduce the risk of your Xbox 360 failing.
I have the Elite and it works great! I am very happy with it. No problems at all..dreamscott
My Elite works great, Love it! But lets say Gosh forbid something does go wrong, and it goes DOWN, When Microsoft is FIXING IT, are they going to put the NEW 65 Chip in your system so it comes back good once and for all, or do they simply do enough to fix it and get by.... So at a later date YOUR SENDING IT BACK AGAIN.......
I guess my question is, at some point will they FIX IT WITH THE 65 Chip, by installing it in people's systems that are in for Repair, RATHER THAN JUST STICK THE NEW CHIP IN NEW MACHINES PURCHASED
Actually, the Core was made as a ripped down premium. Then the elite was made with a new motherboard design for improvements. After all of the defects and returns on premiums, they decided to use the elite motherboard/cpu in the premiums. That is why the new premiums have zephyr on the side of the box (motherboard name) and soon to be the Falcon (65nm chip). I think it was just easier for MS to use the elite mobo in premiums to help stop the RROD problem as a simple quick fix.Phazevariance
Where would it say zephyr on the side of the box?

On the left side of the box there is a white sticker. At the end of the first line it will say "Zephyr" if you got one.
I would have to say yes, the Elites are more reliable. I haven't seen any real threads about broken Elites and I doubt I'll see anything in the future. Go for it, you'll love it!
buying a pro and then a 120 hdd, will cost around 540 dollars. the elite will cost just 450, so you see it's NOT a waste of moneyascendentjusticvxbbh
elite waste of money just buy pro with HDMI That Later on Buy 120 GBbike749
buying a new pro, and then buying the 120 HDD will cost around 540 dollars, buying the elite which already has the 120 HDD only costs 450, so it's NOT a waste of money, it is in fact more practical
