When you install a game to the hard drive, is it significantly better in some areas? Like, can you notice that you downloaded it to the hard drive? Which games have you tested to see if it works?

I have not noticed any difference, besides the noise factor. Of course, I believe if you had a scratched disc, it would improve. If I have a good disc however, there will be no performance boost.

I have tried plenty of games, the one I was hoping would improve or at least notice a difference is Two Worlds. That game has terrible performance issues, I thought my terrible frame rate might be due to the disc not reading fast enough. It didn't make a difference. I have tried other games as well, I have not seen a difference in loading times, or anything else.

Basically I would use it for a scratched disc game, or if you plan on playing a certain game for hours on end. (Easier on your console.)

I've noticed minor improvements in load times and such but what really makes downloading to the hdd worth it is the noise reduction.

I personally prefer to install the games since it does cut on the loading times (well in games like Fallout 3 at least), there is no noise and plus the I read somewhere that installing games reduces the risk of RROD.

the loading times usually decrease when you install the game (cept for halo 3 unfortuantely)

and (in my case at least) it keeps the dvds from being so scratched up that you can't play them

The games that I have noticed a huge increase in performence are open world games, aside from the terribly done two worlds, both GTA 4 and Oblivion recieved significant boosts in both load time, and less pop up issues, These are however the only type of games i see any realy differnce too, aside fomr like 10 second faster laod times and whatnot.
