People can be in denial all they want.. The fact still remains that RROD is still common place.. It was a design flaw in the unit itself... I love the 360 and the online service , but I wont deny that there still is quite a problem with E74 .... Lets hope MS learns from this on the next console they design...
My first 360 got the red ring twice (the original and the one they sent after) My bothers 360 got a red ring once A good couple of my friends also got red rings with their systems....but at least microsoft fixes it for free....still a pain in the ass though
They arent as freakuwent anymore. And since you are more of a casual gamer you probably wont use it that much to overheat. Even if it does break microsoft will fix it free of charge.xsplitsolo
Did you just spell "frequent" the way I think you spelt it. Not trying to be the spelling police but thats hilarious! Freakuwent
I've had my xbox for 2 1/2 years and no RROD yet (knock on wood). As long as you get one of the new jasper chips, which I don't have unfortunately, it will cut the chance down a lot. Just so you know the PS3 has YLOD errors and sometimes won't read games. Just remember any electronics will break if not properly maintained.
No that's complete bs.. my 15th just died a few days ago.Darkslayer16
What are you buying these things used on ebay? 15th? There's no way.

Go Devils!!!!!
15th!!! Oh wait, 152K gamerscore... no wonder they're played to death! That wasn't a slight in anyway, just a casual observation, btw. But either way, that's bad luck. I had to replace mine twice, and oddly enough, the last one was replaced with a 1st generation, which has been running fine for 2 years. The RRoD problem really is hit-or-miss. It seems to be the (un)luck of the draw...No that's complete bs.. my 15th just died a few days ago.

It won't happen if you take care of your xbox. Don't leave it on overnight, in the sun, don't spill anything on it etc.

yea im sure that the 20 million people who had the RROD spilled something on it
spend the extra protection plan from Best Buy and you dont have to deal with MS. They replace with less headacheskingrich06
If you go the 360 route this above would be a smart thing to do. If you have a 1080p HDTV then do yourself and family a favor and get a PS3/Blue Ray player. I personally bought an elite which I had to send in 5 months later only to get a refurb back which had clearly been subjected to tons of smoke (fans were accually a brown color). Got rid of it and bought a PS3. Keep in mind I had a launch 360 core console for over a year no problems and wanted the HDMI connection so bought the elite and well huge mistake.

Not really, try googling how they fix RROD. They fix the melted solder points and put extra thermal paste on the gpu. It's not surprising once you recieve that first refurb you are stuck in the recycle program.
