Hi all,

I was just wondering if there are any teachers out there that play 360, or games at all. Obviously, I wouldn't think that a video game community would be tearing the seems with teachers, but it was a good shot!

I teach high school Civics, World History, Problems of Democracy, and Geography.

It's a storm day today that's why I'm asking at this time, because I'm bored!

My friend is actually a teachers aid and computer class instructor at the local elementary school, he brings a Nintendo Wii in for after school activities, and his house is where I play Rock Band.

Why would a teacher not play video games?

There is no reason not to! I play all the time! It's actually a great way to make a connection with students. I play COD: W@W with some of my students over live. It's a good ice breaker in the beginning of the year as well!

I am a retired High School teacher who has been a gamer for years. Like you, I taught history, economics, and geography for 40 years. My students were surprised that I play video games on both the PS and xbox but it seemed to connect and gave us some to talk about and compare.

Nice! Yeah having something in your back pocket to talk about during those down times in class is really a nice thing to have!

I'm an English teacher who has been a gamer since the days of Atari. I love my 360 and believe it's a good way to compare certain novels with games beforehand to get students more interested in literature. This especially works well when I teach Ender's Game.

That's cool, I've used some Call of Duty things to explain some WWII material, nothing to indepth, but just a way to connect the material to their lives.

I teach fourth grade and I have played games for years. Gaming is a hobby and teachers do not live in their classroom. We all have things we enjoy to do outside our classrooms.

I teach P.E. and I play my 360 when I can. I work at a charter school so our day runs until 4:20 so i can only usually play on the weekends. Its good to see the shock on the kids face when you tell them that you can get 5 stars on Free Bird on Expert etc.

My wife plays and is a teacher also. She said her kids were so shocked that she played. Now, they ask her for tips on Fable 2, GH, and Halo.

Didn't think there were that many teachers that played!

I have a Science teacher that used to play CoD:4. It was funny because the first time we played with each other he started to make fun of me. He was saying he would give me an F if I sucked blah blah blah. It was really fun to play with him. And any older people in particular, they tend to be more fun to play with.

If anybody wants to play, throw me an invite: Gamertag: iMUZI

Awesome, but you should be careful about how that affects student-teacher fraternization policy. My 12th grade creative writing teacher played games as well, always talked movies, sports, comic books etc... with my friends and I all the time but for some reason the school had a problem with him playing b ball with us. One of their mom's might not like the idea of her kid shootin up others on xbox but if it's cool with everyone, awesome, as I already know how cool that is.I smoked a j with my old high school econ teacher after running into him @ a bar.

I am a sex ed teacher as well as pornography film director. i enjoy video games while having inercorse and teaching at the same time! there is nothing quite like it when you are playing fable 2, riding some piece of azz and cheating on your wife(im not just talking about in fable by the way)!

doonkoon
I seriously hope that is not the case. Your lack of proper punctuation and horrible dialect has me genuinely worried about your students mental development to whatever effect sex-ed can have on it.

My wife and I are both teachers. I teach 7th grade math and my wife teaches 5th grade. We both play a lot of Xbox 360, especially Halo 3. I don't play with my students though, that's too friendly. However, I would love to play against them and dominate them.

I had a Social Studies teacher freshman year who talked about Madden all the time. After a month he left and a new teacher came in. He was like 22 and played WOW. It was even on his laptop i think. In the middle of the year he asked me and my friends about a 360 cause he wanted one. He got one over the summer but i havent played with him yet.

Also there is an english teacher who i hear is sick at Halo.

I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science, and I've been gaming for awhile now. I also coach the varsity boys soccer team. I would like to game more, but life tends to be busy this time of year.

My French teacher does, he wouldn't add me to his friend's list until the semester was up though, he said he didn't think it was appropriate since I was his student.

English Teacher 10 years, high school and just starting to get into administration (thats being a principal for all you non-educators). I tell my students I play and they beg me for my gamertag, but I don't give it out. There are some kids I would not mind playin with but so many more that would drive me insane. Plus, I don't want them to get low self esteem fom me shooting them in the face at Call of Duty, or owning them at Halo 3. Although showing those little grasshoppers just who is the big man on campus would be nice. In actuallity they would probably whup my A$$! Well, maybe.
