I'm not a serious competitor. Don't get me wrong, I want to win my matches, but I know you can't win them all. I win some, I lose some. As long as I'm having fun, it's all good.
It really depends on the game. If it's Halo 3, I want to win because if you lose then it's a complete waste of time. In games like Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War, though, I could honostly care less which team wins.

I am competitive depending on the game. Most games I don't care it's all for fun and I laugh when people brag about winning, but other games.. usually ones that are difficult or follow strict rules or scrims, I play very seriously and play to win.
i am very serious gamer. If i don't win a game my 360 take a baseball bat to the drive. if I'm racing and I'm about to loose i my 360 get a bullet to the power button. My parents are trying to get me to take anger management class but when the teachers/therapists read the filled out application under problem, they call back and say "uhh sorry there is no more space". My doctor says if i keep loosing any more games my blood pressure is going to kill me. sooo yea i do take my gaming seriously
Recently I have been obsessed with Call of Duty 4...and I play Domination ALWAYS. The only reason I play domination is for the kills. I could careless what team wins as long as my Kill to Death ratio is Way Good. I get very angry when I go negative. LOL
I don;t like to have my butt handed to me (who does?) but I am not a serious competitor at all. Gaming is a hobby for me- something I do to relieve stress. Being overly competitive with it would add stress, not relieve it. That said, I don't think there's really anything wrong with other people wanting to be competitive, so long as they don't hold it against me that I'm not.
No i'm not. I don't care if i win as long as i don't get my butt kicked. In COD4 it always puts me in games that are like half way over. Hard to win when your teammates don't know how to play. I wont get slaughtered but we end up losing still. I just wanna have fun and just not get my rear end handed to me.
I usually don't care all to much. I wont have a fit over it. But I usually end up on the top 3 in CoD4 all the time. So I don't really have to stress over it all that much.
I don't play professionally, not am I in any clans, but I am pretty competitive in the games I care about. If I lose at a game I'm playing for the third time, it doesn't bother me at all. If I lose at a game I've played a great deal, then I get pretty upset, and try harder. Or occasionally, I even throw my controller, owing to my extensive emotional problems. :P

Sometimes I am. Depends really. When I'm just doing a normal match, I typically won't get over involved, but I've been known to have to turn off the headset from yelling :P

I agree thats pretty aggravating. I had a little kid ask me how New Orleans was right after Hurricane Katrina when I was playing Halo 2 one time. That was probably the angriest Ive ever been at anything that happened on xbox live. Now Ive just come to expect stupid stuff like that. Thats what happens when you combine anonymity and a microphone.
I'm only really competitive at a game I know I should be beating everyone at because I play it alot... but if its a new game I dont mind loosing... sometimes
I'm very, very competitive in person. When I'm not gaming, my free time is always spent playing sports, practicing. However, XBox live, MMO's, and other games have made me just take video games as games, I play to have fun. In fact I dont play alot of online things unless it's with friends just for that reason. I tried to get into halo3 online, but I just couldnt it's a bunch of kids that run around and say racist, sexist, or just plain ignorant things. I can respect a great gamer thats just beating the competition up, becuase of skill. However I feel that online in most venues most players go for whatever is the cheapest/easiest way to get some random number that says their an amazing player so they can show off. I'd rather not stoop to that level and just be as cheap as possible to win, admittedly their have been times out of anger I have done that to win online matches, I'm not proud of it. I find it's better for me to just ignore the competitive parts of most online games.
I'd say no, but honestly there's been times with Gears when I got downright bloodthirsty in a match (always after I feel like I got cheated, and a couple of beers), although that usually subsides when I chainsaw at least 3 out of the 4 players on COG. And I don't even trash talk after those kinda rounds.
With Call of Duty 4, I just play to have fun, but in Halo 3, I play a bit more competitive unless it's against friends. I only play more competitively because of the you lose you get nothing leveling system.

Could not agree more!! I like to have a good time and play. If I win then great... which I going to try... but if I lose, hey good job. But lately its just plain annoying! For the most part I enjoy the community but, just play and quit running your mouth!!
Competitive does not mean you beat yourself over every loss, it does not mean you flame little kids, it does not mean you talk trash, it does not mean any disrepect! competitive gaming is when you actually try to win, when you actually TRY! you don't fool around by blowing yourself a big hole in BFBC. It does not mean shooting your teammate because he accidentally hit you when there is friendly fire.
Competitive gaming is when you're serious, you use the mic for strategies, not insulting people/trash talk. You actually make plans and go forth with them. It's hard to do so unless you're in a clan match though, because of all the kids and jackasses who just mess around and don't take anything seriously. they'll rush in with a shotgun trying to gundown whoever they can without caring about their K/D ratio or anything.
I can be on occasion it depends if its a game I care about like Halo 3 I really didnt care about winning cause I didnt like the multiplayer but on COD4 I can get real serious about it on occasion but that generally only happens when im waiting in the lobby and some little white wannabe gangsta runs his mouth then i make it mission to try and find him for the whole match
While I have loads of fun while playing, and I go out of my way to complement and be courteous to people (way too many people who are complete A-holes on the XBL community), I'm also extremely competetive. While I won't get mad when I lose, I play to win.
I play to win, but i think the most important thing is that its fun and not takin too seriously. Playing with a bunch of people and everyone is yelling and mad throwing f bombs, the n word and other stupid words/insults for getting killed or something being cheap sucks and is not fun, so i leave those rooms usually.
