Achievement points are just so addicting. Anyone who owns a 360 would know that.

As for me, i won't say i'm "Addicted" to achievement points. I just like to show off my skills by getting achievement points from time to time.

However, achievement points have effected what games i play. If the game i'm playing dosen't have achievement points, i tend to stop playing it after a while, even if it's a phonamanal game. I haven't picked up my Legand of Zelda: Twilight Princess game for a month because i did't feel a sence of reword after playing it for a while.

What are your thoughts and opinions on this matter?

No, I'm not. I like the idea of achievement points, but kids who spend hours and hours trying desperately to gain every last achievement at the cost of all the games fun disgust me. I remember way back, when we used to play video games in order to have some fun, maybe a laugh or two....

I love Achievement points. That was an excellent idea from Microsoft, its like a little reward every once in a while just for playing the games, and it gives much replayability. I love the little guys.

Not points, but rather achievements. The replay value they add just makes games so much more enjoyable.

They make me angry, peeps go on Xbox live like "I got this acheivement and you don't hahahahahah!" It's simply rewarding people with more time on their hands. Oh well, do what you want.

I used to be but lately I've been more annoyed with them... I find myself doing things that I wouldnt normally waste time doing... The rewards thing is getting on my nerves too.... I've been tempted to rent/buy King Kong or TMNT just to get an easy 1000 pts but they are such crappy games I dont wanna waste my time playing them... got a bunch of ps2 games waiting to be played.... meh.... I think if you got actual stuff for beating games  it would be better.... Like if you beat a game (or do a certain acheivement) you get a theme and a bunch gamerpicts that you can only get by beating that game.... Gears of War sorta did it with that one gamerpic you get for beating it on insane or when you get 10000 kills... pts are pointless to me... i want stuff.

It's fun to get them.  It gives more replay value, and challenges you.  Makes you feel proud, like a medal or something.  It's also nice in that it shows the progress of someone in a certain game, so I can look and see bob likes to play the multiplayer and is quite good at it, he must have played it alot, but I see he barely touched the single player.  Good info.

I'm think kind of person who gets into collecting things. Like I used to love platformers like mario 64, banjo serieces for n64.  I try to get all the points I can in a game but I'm not going to play a game so much trying to get achievments that I know I'd have a super super hard time getting.  But I do like getting more its gives a pretty good feeling for as wierd as that sounds.

Actually, I think you´re wrong, cuz games in the past were targeted to earning the most points you could get.

Did you use a single periode? You put "..." alot but no single periodes. Anyway, I'm not addicted but I find that it adds replay value and makes me go back and play old (but fun) games. I have just over 3k (got my 360 at X-mas). I unfortunately don't have LIVE, so all achievments that are online I am forced to skip.

If you're only talking about arcade games then, Sure, maybe you're sort-of right. Actually no entirely wrong, the points you got in oldschool games did nothing, you accumulated them like candy on halloween and the only thing they did was give you a free life every now and then. No-one paid attention to points way back when.

I am but I wont buy a game just for points. It adds a lot of replay value. How many people would actually go back and beat a game on a harder difficulty like COD2. I bet no one would play Rainbow Six Vegas on relistic because it is hard. I would find myself going back to games I havent bet just to beat them for the points which is a good thing because the points are making be beat a game that I probably wouldnt go back to play because it is hard. For example I bought GRAW2  and played it for couple weeks and now Im back playing COD3 and Rainbow Six Vegas to beat the story mode.

I also love the sound of getting an achievement. It kind of sucks that it makes the same sound when a friend signs on. It would be cool if there was a way to change it. Maybe in a furture update.

Exactly my opinion too... it rewards people with no life or job

Really?  I love the achievements and I am a full time college student, work a full time job at night, am married, and go out every weekend with my friends and sometimes during the week.  My gamerscore is over 14,000.  Sounds like you are just making excuses because your score isn't very high.  I probably do a lot more than you do and still enjoy playing games and having a high gamer score, so judgemental cracks like these simply aren't true and really just waste everyone's time.

Not really. Right now I barely have any games so theres not that much achievements that i could actually get. I only have 68 achievements at this moment and my gamerscore is only like 1280 or sumthin. Plus i dont have live so that sucks.
