Whenever i play my 360 i of course play for the fun of the game but sometimes i feel as if i need to get as many achievements as possible. I don't know what it is about the burp sound that plays when you unlock a achievement that feels so rewarding and satisfiying. Does anyone else feel this way.

I do, I normally complete a game once just for the fun of it. But then I get back in there to get the achievements. I really like them, and they've given my games A LOT of replay value.

I think its a great idea and i love getting acheivments. I hate games though that give it away easy or give you barely any points for something incredibly hard (like getting 5 stars on every song in expert in GH2 and only gettin 30 points). Anyway i didn't even know about acheivments until i got my 360 and now i'm hooked. People that buy $H!TTY games for acheivments are stupid.

Yes I am... but without achievements I would stop playing a game quickly after beating it. I really get more for my money because of them.

I'm very addicted.  It's torture having my 360 being repaired and not being able to earn achievements.

At first, I couldn't have cared less about achievements. But after a while, getting that little "Achievement Unlocked" thing became addictive.

I bought a bunch of lame Arcade titles with easy achievements. I joined Gamefly so I could get the achievements out there without having to actually buy the crappy game (i.e. King Kong and Card, etc).

I even bought Guitar Hero II, mainly for the achievements, even though I already own and played through the PS2 version.

So yeah, I guess I am addicted.

I admit I was addicted, now I just casually try to unlock achievements for games. I was mad about achievements before to the point where I wasn't playing the game for the fun of it anymore.

a couple of guys on my friends list were racing to see who could get to 20,000 points first, so they rented a bunch of lame games just to get the points.  one of my friends got MADDEN 06 and he doesnt know a single thing about football but he got the 1,000 points for it and moved on, so they are definately addicted but i dont think i am.  but it is cool to hear that sound when it happens

I like them, but I'm not addicted. I like achievements to show my friends where I've gotten in games, I like to use them to compare my skills in a game with another person. It makes me feel special when I have a cool achievement that someone else doesn't have, not to sound selfish.

Depends on the game. ST: Legacy I was intent on getting most of the achievements, as well as Splinter Cell: DA, most other games, not so much.

Achievements are the greatest marketing ploy ever. Given the choice of multiplatform games, a lot of people choose 360 games because of them. They are now being intergrated into PC gaming.

Microsofts world domination is almost complete.

I used to care about achievements, but not so much anymore.

Although I must admit, the little Achievement unlocked thing that pops up is nice to see.

well , i'm no achievement junkie. i just play for the games. but the points add a lilttle more spark to the games though. i have a pretty hectic life ya kno dealing with college and work so really no time for points. but i do have friends who are obssesd with points and will buy crappy games only for those points.

I don't care for achievements. I could play a whole game and not care if I get a single one. It's dumb when people try so hard to get something that is completely meaningless except being able to say "Ha u only have 2000 gamerpoints, ur lyke such a nub. I have 3000. lolz0rz."

YEs.... this may have been one of the smartest things Microsoft thought of with this system. Look how much replay value is in a game after you have beaten it.

I guess you could call me and achievement point junkie. But I only get them from games that I like playing. I don't go out and rent easy achievement games.

Yeah, I kinda feel this way. Still, I do go a little bit out of my way to get achievements for games. Like others said, I'm not going to play through Open Season just to get 1000 points (at least, not unless MS gives more stuff away for it) but when I had Hitman Blood Money, I worked harder at beating Pro difficulty than I would have without the points.

They do make me more inclined to play harder difficulty levels and, somewhat, to play online more -- which is good because I tend to not be a very social person, and it kinda forces me into a position that could ultimately foster personal growth. They don't make me play things I don't like though... it doesn't kill me that I returned Saint's Row after only getting 40 points, or that I don't like Gears Of War's online very much so I'll be missing out on 360 points there. But there is a unique sense of accomplishment that I felt after getting the full 1000 in Dead Rising and I like the fact that people have commented on it when I played them in other games. It's glory on the most microcosmic scale possible, but it's still glory.

i don't think i'm addicted.  it's both fun and challenging to get them; but, like most ppl on here i'm not gonna get a crappy game just for more of them.  i have over 900 for gears b/c i like the game then like 200 on games i don't like as much b/c i barely play them.

I am addicted to Achievements for the added replay value. Some game achievements are just crazy and I have to admit It, I accomplished one of the most boring challenges in Dead Rising the PP Points Sticker Achievement. After playing that game so much it gets the bore factor up having to start over everytime to complete some of the more tedious achievemnets. So some games can make achievements dull, boring, and flat ridiculous.

You can say that I am but I am not as bad as some people.  I won't play games that are terrible just for the points.  I only play games I want to play and within those games, I do try to get all the achievements.
