I think I'm very patient and just wait for the gameI really want even if I have to wait for a month or two.:oops:joepo1980
I listen to reviews, generally. I have a few sources I really trust, and base most of my purchases on it. However,I won't buy games that get stellar reviews that are in genre I'm not interested in. A good example is Forza 2. It got great reviews, but I don't care for racing games, so... pass.
I don't care about reviewer scores much when selecting games to play. I have had tons of fun with games that got low ratings and mediocre times with games that got rated high.
I pretty much buy everything that comes out that I might have any interest in. I have like 100 360 games now and bought most of them new.
Sorry for the double post, but I forgot another point I was trying to make.
Another reason for myself only buying really good games is because I do not want to supply game companies with money for making bad games, thus giving them the impression that it is "ok" to make bad games. Instead I go buy good games brand new, and really good games I'll buy the collectors editions for to show the company not only respect for churning out a good title, but also to give them a clue as to, "this game is good, make more like it". Peace.
I've started to get very picky, since I'm buying new games. till now, most games I've wanted have been out afew years, so are dirt cheap.
But now, I wait, see the general feedback a game gets as well as the gameplay I've seen myself, and make up my mind. I can afford all those I want anyway, I just don't like wasting money.

Agreed. I tend to read reviews, check out games that I think I like and then go for them. I rarely go for a game in a genre I know I am not going to like, and your example is relevant for me too. Although, having said that I was drawn to Viva Pinata for some reason and that is not really am game that I go for usually..
