Are you SICK to death of bad rep??? Should the system be changed?

The other day i started playing soul caliber 4 on-line and to my surprise i did really well, Later on checked my rep to find that it had gone down alot.....basically i got bad rep for winning!!! I don't use a mic so i wasn't swearing or being a d1ck....

Next game was halo 3, I thought i'd have a few games on that for awhile and lucky for me i was having a good day (winning) but seems some people think winning is bad, So they hand out more of the bad rep!....

.....Bad rep....seems that its being used for the wrong reasons and not for what its meant for, sore losers who hate to be beaten, team killers who hate the fact that you killed them back after they team killed you, people who you "out wit" in a slanging match give bad rep....

But what are we supposed to do, I'll be honest i don't use my mic and don't team kill and play by the rules of the game...and if winning is a reason for bad rep then that's all i'm doing wrong.

I'd like to hear what you guys think and see if any of you have had the same problem and what you think could be done to fix this issue.

1 complaint will get you banned from xbox live....wow i did not know that i thought you need about 5 - 10 or so?

I have seen people's stars fall for getting bad rep but i've also seen them jump up to 5 stars for no reason....i think the hole rep system needs a huge re-think

It will normally take several complaints to get a person banned, but it really depends on what the complaint is about. MS will look at it and decide what action to take.

For instance if there is something offensive about a gamertag that person will be forced by MS to change it (free of charge). MS will need a decent reason to suspend someone, not just because the person filing the complaint was annoyed at being beaten.

I agree and what really confuses me is how it says on mine:

There's no way in the world that that many people reviewed me let alone gave me a bad review.

When you think of how many people you play with, and most people only give you bad reputation if they really get mad so how have half the people I have ever played with gave me bad rep, i don't use a mic much at all and always play fair.

I have the same problem on SC4, getting bad rep for winning.

I curse a lot on Battlefield Bad Company but I still have 100% good rep and... 4 and a half stars...

I like giving people bad rep if their jackasses. It provides closure, even if they still have a 5-star rep.

Agreed, everytime I get a good 2 games in a row at COD4 i get bad Rep. Disruptive and Trash talking, which is kinda odd since i no longer use my mic :S

Still who cares, it means nothing i guess.

I'll tell you what sucks the most about the rep, Your rite rep means nothing....but it kinda dose to you, i dont know about you guys but when ever i get bad rep it feels like someones just ran up and kicked me in my virtual nuts!

Thats why bad rep sucks...because even when no one else can see what good or bad rep you have, It still pissis you of when you get it. So for that reason MS should get rid of this system.

Plus because of bad rep i've stopped playing some games because you get too much bad rep for winning!

People do abuse the system but at the end of the day, it's completely pointless anyway. It has NO effect on you, at all, apart from the fact that you will be less likely to run into somebody again (which is good if they bad rep for no reason, or do something to deserve to get bad repped), but as far as the percentage goes, it doesn't matter, at all.

Unless people are filing complaints on you, bad repping is harmless. And, even with complaints, MS don't take action unless it's completely necessary.

I hope Microsoft doesn't ban people because of complaints being filed. What if someone files complaints with no reason?it says i got 80% out of everyone on xbox live avoided me and 20% out of every one on xbox live didn't prefer or avoid.Jdog30

I can take it or leave it i mainly play with friends only , i give goood and bad reports. once in gta team deathmatch it started out 7on7 2 min later it 7 on 3 the 3 stayed and got butcherd i gave them all a good rep.

it would be nice is MS reset everyones rep in the next update, and then fixed it or just got rid of it, because its stupid really, i got most of my pad rep from being too good on PGR3 back in the day(7th in the world at one point for about a year) so yea, its a broken system that relies on human morrells to work, and that wont happen because humans suck tbh, were the only species capable of destroying each other in war(i know it isnt war but its how i see things), thats why these systems dont workDarcstudios

Yeah it's flawed... it actually would be good if it did what it said... ppl that preferred you or did not review you went to the +... in that case everyones would be about 90% or more for preferred.

I gave bad rep for 2 guys that were being total jerks in a BTB game of halo (they wee on the other team) and that supposedly makes you less likely to play with them again... I was actually teamed WITH them for the next 2 games.

The rep system is borked. I've been matched up with people I set to "avoid" for the next 3 games in a row. As for the game the hit my rep the worst, Gears of War, I never glitched, I never trash talked, TKed or anything like that. My reps were it's at because of sore losers, lol. Think i've got a couple notches for "quit early" because sometimes you can't just "finish the game," must be nice to be those 5 year olds who gave me those with an infinite amount of free time . . .

back to the topic, the whole system needs to be changed, or at least we need to be given some guarantee that MS personaly reviews server logs and triple checks the complaint. I've yet to be banned, I'd prefer to keep it that way. I'll be damned if I'm gonna get the ugly axe because of some crya** 5 year old who I just curb stomped. Amirite?

Mine has gone down a lot since I started playing the tug of war matches in Rock Band - I never drop mid-song, so I can only assume I'm being given negative rep for winning, which is beyond lame.

I'm really confused about how the whole stars-rating thing works. Everyone on my live list seems to get five stars their first day on live, while I've been playing for months and have 3.

I have had this idea for a while and I'm glad this post was created so I can mention my idea.

What if after every game you play, the system automatically gives everyone good feed back in the game you played.

Then if you find someone that is troubling you can go and leave negative feedback.

From how I see it, everyone you play with that doesn't act like a jerk, should automatically be preferred.

That way when you view your rep, it will show you the TRUE percentage of people that hate you. The current system doesn't work because people that ever give rep is for when they have problems with people, but 95% of the time people that enjoy playing with you don't give positive feedback. That's why I think as long as you didn't have any problems with the people you played with they should automatically get preferred.

I hate the rep system. My bad rep mainly comes from winning in fighters since it's just one on one. it doesn't bother me too much, but just shows how stupid people are and how seriously they seem to take gaming.

they should just get rid of the rep system altogether... but keep in the feature of avoiding certain players. now that's something I like.
