If you've bought one recently, I don't doubt it. But I bought mine at launch and right now I think I'm on my 4th or 5th. Really can't remember. I've had this one for the longest of all of them (I think over half a year now).

I used my first PRP on my first console when I didn't really need to, only to find out that its problems were standard. My second caugh the 3 red light virus as a result of a failed DVD drive and I used another PRP to exchange it today. The second one only lived for 3 months, too.
Yes, since launch, and I honestly believe its the best system on the market. My PS3 is pretty much a blu ray machine for now, and my Wii isn't even set up.

I'm still on my first, but I sended it to repair if that still counts, hopefully it will turn out fine when it comes back as i've been told it will be back in about 10-15 Working days which I think it's completley bull*** or they just didn't take enough time doing a diagnostics on my 360. I plan to get a Elite soon anyways when it pops out here in Australia, hopefully they don't run out. Then i'll have TWO consoles, WOOT!

It depends how long you have it in your disc tray.
I leave mine in there into perpetuity and none of my discs are scratched, even with a defective dvd drive.

Looks like this new one that I got today is bad. It's showing artifacts in game and on the dashboard and freezing in NCAA 08. Gave me the "Can't read the disk" error even though the game is brand new. Looks like I'm making another trip to Gamestop provided this one doesn't shape up. I'm never going to get to play NCAA 08.
I had my first one from launch all the way till a couple of weeks ago when I traded it in for the Elite. Ididnt haveany problems with it, its actually been the most reliable console I have ever owned. The PS2 that I had worked for about 3 months, and then it stopped reading games all together. Even all of the nintendo systems that I owned never lasted more than a couple of years.

40 bucks for my second prp, the first one was free. Didn't get one this time, and returning this new one tomorrow.
My first one fried only a couple months after I got it. My second one is doing good though. It did get the 3 lights about a month ago but it still seems to be working good. I have to put a fan behind the damn thing to keep it cool.
I'm on my second one, and I hope it stays that way. I bought mine in August of '06 and it died on me early this year. Managed to get it back to Microsoft and they replaced the system with a new one, free of charge.
I'm sort of afraid to play my 360 because I'm afraid it might fry again, but I'm slowly getting back into it now that I have Rainbow Six: Vegas from Gamefly to play through. Again, here's to hoping it holds up.
