Recently there has been a lot of negative press concerning the 360. (Moore leaving, console failure, sales dropping)

I was just wondering if the 360 success hinges on Halo 3. Granted there are some big games coming out, quite possibly AAA titles in the next 4 months in a row (Bioshock/Halo 3/GTA 4/ Mass Effect). Will this be enough to continue 360 success? I hope so, competition in the gaming industry is helpful. Will these 4 titles show the best the 360 can produce?

Moore leaving is not a sign that the world is going to end, or MS is stopping the 360. He's expandable. The sales will obviously pick up in the holiday season. And yes, the 360 will do just fine afterward. Halo 3 is on the bottom of my list of must gets right now, though I obviously will, its just not the godsend to games that the casuals think.

I believe that all four of the games that you listed will help to move consoles, especially H3, which will be the best selling game of 2007. Plus GTA4 will be very important to the 360 in terms of sales this fall. Bioshock and Mass Effect both look like they will be great games that will bring tons of positive attention to the 360.

Agree, Halo 3 is a system seller, but what after Halo 3...I know they have a RTS for Halo coming out that looks sweet. I just wished they showed more at E3 for games of 08.

Over here in Australia we have our EB stores restocked on new consoles (the old stocks were sent back to microsoft) and im pretty sure they have new 65nm chips installed in them, if not why did they send their old stocks back, thats my question.

I think that halo 3 is a big time seller but there are a lot more games that have the potential to sell great and be great

Halo 3 is wayyyyy overrated. BounceDK

I think you should at least wait for the game before you make decisions about it. Maybe because you dont like it (already) doesnt mean the millions of fans think the same. If Halo is over rated with its millions of fans then what isnt overrated?

With the 3 year warranty and the high level of the games being released and XBL it isvery unlikely the X360 will fade even with the major hit of P. Moore leaving the X360 is now set as the console to match if anything the Wii will loose ground to sony

This isn't the xbox. Halo 3 will be great, but it isn't the only shell in microsofts software shotgun.

Halo 3 is simple enough for casuals, yet has enough depth for hardcore. I think the next big system seller will be a new IP, who knows what it will be?

Halo3 did put microsoft on the map, but after it ends with Halo 3, there still is a little game called Gears of War that can carry the franchise for at least I see 2 more games. And also we have Fable, Mass Effect, and plenty other games that could carry on sequels....

Even if this game turns out to be completely awful, it will still sell millions which is what is going to boost the 360. The income from the games, and the consoles sold on the basis of this game WILL make a difference to the Xbox division at Microsoft. On those terms, I hope this game sells unbelievable amounts, because I don't want Microsoft to ever consider pulling out of gaming because right now their game selection completely destroys the other 2.

Do you people not pay attention your acting like Halo 3 is the only game coming to the 360 and if that SOMEHOW doesnt do well the system will die. 360 has confirmed and anticipated games going through 2008 and even some in 2009. Just because Moore left doesnt mean the 360 is dead.

360 isn't going to fail..it just plain isn't possible because microsoft will throw money at it until it succeeds, but they wont have to do that because they have: mass effect, halo, gta, possibly mgs and dmc, now they have resident evil, lots others that im not getting at

Well im considering buying a Ps3 before Re5 comes out, because in al honesty the Ps3 has really been impressing me. The new Socom, Killzone, MGS4, Heavenly sword, God of war 3 (hopes). They all look to be amazing.

I'd say it's more than enough.

Anyway, the 360's dependancy on Halo isn't nearly as vital as it was for the X-box. But, Halo 3 will really help seal the deal. I'm sure for alot of people Halo is going to help push them over the fence.

Not that I don't beleive you but where are people getting this info. If this is true, it's truly outstanding because that means it'll probably have already sold more copys than Halo Combat evolved at luanch.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_video_games#Xbox

notice how the xbox only had 4 games not named Halo sell over one million, notice how the 360 already has 10 that have broken the million mark. By the end of the year, there will be close to 20 titles on the 360 that have sold over one million.
