Recently after buying splinter cell conviction I have a new profound love for stealth/action games. I had assasin's creed back when it first came out but ended up selling it because of bills(also i didn't really like it that much) I guess a part of what I didn't like was how the game would stop to go back to the real world and then go back into the "dream mode". Anyways I've heard great things about AC2, so I was wondering if I wanted to play AC2 would i have to play AC first? I can just buy AC with games on demand for $20(1600 ms pts). So is it worth to do this move or just skip AC and play AC2? I plan on playing AC:Brotherhood after I complete AC2. Also forgot to mention I already bought AC2 off ebay for a low price so it's on the way, should be here sometime next week.

Mod edit: Please use stickied recommendation thread or Assassins Creed game forums for these requests. Thanks!

Thanks for the input drakebunny. Is it worth getting on demand though?

This is going to sound idiotic to you, but I own both a physical and an on demand copy. It was hard for me to find the physical copy in my area until last week, so I had an on demand copy for about a year now. Get whatever you can, honestly.

Physical copy will 90% of the time be cheaper, especially if you get it used.

You won't miss much of anything if you start with AC2, there's only a few parts where it refers to the first AC

There's one AC2 segment in particular that really calls back to the first game, but it won't be the end of the world if you start with the second.

Start with the first one, it's an underappreciated game and will make the second one better. Also, you can find the hard copy for $10 cheaper than the digital copy.

The stories tie together. It's also best to play the first games in a series first because it ultimately makes the series better, by having more knowledge of the past. Instead of thinking, ok here's another guy I have to kill, you may be thinking, hey this guy killed my fiance and kidnapped my sister. It creates another level of enjoyment you can't get if you skip a game.

With AC2 and AC:Brotherhood out, I do not recommend the first game at all. After this first couple of cities, the game becomes extremely tedious. I'd just buy AC2 and AC:B, and look for a plot synopsis for the first one. This is coming from someone who has played all 3 games.

I say, "If you don't know where to start, go back to the begining."
