Im going to buy one of these games tomorow and i found both for the same price, but the problem is i can't decide which one to take. I love the idea of running around on rooftops and assassinate people but at the same time the awsome story of half life seems to be attracting me too. I also like the fact that i in the orange box you get five games and one of them also is an online game. So my basic question is: Which one of these games is going to get me the most, by that i mean which one has the most replay value and you can also tell me what you think of the games if you own them. That way i would get a basic idea of which one to buy. And the fact that one is a first person shooter and the other one is a third person action/stealt game dosen't matter. I just want to know which one is the best in the long run. Thanks in advance!

I'd recommend the Orange box every time. Assassins Creed is good, but I've not picked it up since I completed it.

The Orange Box, on the other hand, I play quite regularly, especially for Portal.

I recommend The Orange Box. There's more content and more variety on Orange Box than Assassin's Creed, and that's an understatement.

Thank you my good sir! So just a side question, is Half life scary?I don't mind gore but is it scary? And is there any sort of side stuff to go back to when you completed Half life? like collecting anything. And how is Team fortres? I've heard that it lags a lot.

The Orange box is awesome. Assassins Creed is good for an hour or two. Unfortunately Ubisoft basically just copypasted it a couple of times and called it a game.

Orange Box all the way imo.

Edit: Ravenholm can be considered pretty scary and the game has an very intense atmosphere. The fast zombies can also make you jump on a couple of occasions if your not prepared.

No, I wouldn't say Half life is scary. Team Fortress is ok lagwise as far as I've experienced. Like I said, Portal's where its at for me. One of the best games I've ever played!

Hmmm, you've got some good games there, and by good games I mean all the games in the Orange Box. Not saying Assassin's Creed is bad, but it is repetative. You get a mission to kill someone and once you kill them you get another person to kill and so on. The only problem is you do every mission in the exact same way. Gather info by beating it out of people and then once you find where the guy is you stalk him and then kill him, rinse, repeat.

The Orage Box on the other hand has the amazing Half-Life games. Those alone are worth buying the whole collection. Portal is awesome and really unique, but unless your trying to beat the challenge stages there really isn't any replay value. Team Fortress is also fun but prepare to get your butt handed to you by the people that have been playing since day 1. Half-Life is frikin amazing! Half-Life 2 has improved graphics over the PC version that was released. The 2 episodes that follow are really good, especially Episode2. And by the time your done with them you'll be begging for episode 3 or Half-Life 3 (or whatever they decide to release).

(I even got my name from Half-Life)

Hope this helped! (play the original with the expansion packs if you get the chance. You'll still be able to play Half-Life 2 even if you've never played 1)

Let me know which one you end up getting, and what you think!

...is Half life scary?

WelcomeOblivion

Hmm, I don't think so. Some parts of it are errie, when you see what the aliens are doing to the Earth and its inhabitants. There's one level that might be considered scary, but only a little.

And is there any sort of side stuff to go back to when you completed Half life? like collecting anything.

WelcomeOblivion

Besides some achievements, no.

And how is Team fortres? I've heard that it lags a lot.

WelcomeOblivion

Players host the games, so it's only laggy if someone has a bad connection. There are plenty of games that run just fine; most games I join are fine. Team Fortress can be a little unfriendly to new players (not the community; the gameplay), though it can be a lot of fun once you figure things out.

Well there is only one spot in Half-Life 2 that is scary. You go to a town infested by zombies. But thats pretty much it. The rest would be cheap scares like something sneaking up on you. No side quests, but there are achievements to get and some of them require you to hunt down hidden items. I think The Orange box has some of the best achievements to get, like beating Episode 2 by firing only one bullet. Team Fortress only lags if you have a bad conection. But get prepared to get your butt handed to you.

Ohh i missed you post! well, very informative i must say. But are you sure there is no reson whatsoever to play the Half life games again once you beat them? Although you get five games in one so i would not really need the same replay value in this game as in other games. Becuase it's five games! What exactly is the length of all the games in The ornage box.

They're both great games. I'd lean toward Orange Box simply because it has a lot more content. I'd say Assassin's Creed has a slightly better single player game than Orange Box, but the Orange Box has a lot to offer, and is quite a bit lengthier. It also has a fun multiplayer, something Assassin's Creed lacks altogether.

They're both great games, but I'd personally go Orange Box.

I can say without a shadow of a doubt that The Orange Box is both the better game and the better value for your hard earned bucks!

The orange box by far. It will last you so much longer than Assassin's Creed which is such a repetitive game.

The Orange Box hands down. The Orange Box is great and I didn't like Assassins Creed so it's a pretty one-sided fight between the two if you ask me.

These 2 games arent comparable so i can't figure why you all are judging them against eachother, completely different games. I don't like the rap Assasins Creed seems to get in these type of threads either. Half Life offers a lot of content for a shooter with a few other bells and whistles. Assasins Creed stands on it's own, it's story is immersive, and the gameplay is amazing. Is isn't repeitive if you like getting in stand offs with 10 or more quards and slaying them all one after another with large variety of ways to kill them. If you enjoy a long and engrossing single player campaign and open world exploration, then don't pass up this game.

Assassin's Creed is one of my favorite games this generation so I would of course recommend that, but at $20 each, why not get both for the price of one game!

Its not the same type of scary as FEAR or anything, but there will be times when your on your toes, or something suprises you. but nothing much. And tf2 is fine. Its only laggy on ps3 according to a lot of reviews.

I'd go with the Orange box, but both are great. You can get both together for less than the price of a new game.
