I guess topic - but...
Recently finished it - got it for Christmas, but also got Mass Effect and COD4 which really took upmy time! I thinkit was a pretty good game in the end - although it is VERY repetitive and the control system is a little annoying in fights. There were a couple of times when I was playing that I was screaming at the screen because it was soooo frustrating. My list of annoyances are:

1: The informer missions where you have to assassinate 3-6 targets without alerting anyone and the "care in the community" guys keep pushing you in to the guards which fails your mission. The time constraints on these missions really hampered the stealth element for me and I found myself having to do them over and over again.

2: Running away from guards and trying to climb up things quickly. Grrrr the amount of times I was stoned back down again!

3: The ease that your cover was blown for seemingly NO reason

4: The last battle - wo't go in to much detail, but it p155ed me off no end!

i thought the game was crap. boring as hell through the entire time, way too easy, and the ending was the gayest of all time. they have some work to do for a sequel

I thought it was good but not great. They need to make things less repetitive and flesh things out a little more when you help someone.

For ex. I helped save a womans life so why not have her "brothers" help me sneak into a locked gate, window, or distract the guards/target instead of always holding the guards chasing me. The holding guards is handy once in awhile, but make it interesting and something different once in awhile - scholars don't counteither. They were overused too.

def. was. overall i liked it a good 8. the things that bother me was the "climbing" trying to get away from guards. a little too repetitive for my liking, a little to easy-no difficuly modders, hardley any sneaking elements, they need to take out the clibing pillars to unlock the rest of the cites; that was a killer every time i had to do it. it was ok a few times and the it was like just shoot me

I really enjoyed it. I played it as it was meant to be played, payed attention to the cutscenes, had no trouble at any point in the game (not boasting, just saying) and thought that it was interesting, new(ish) and fun. The free-run mechanic worked for me. One happy customer, right here.

I agree with most of the things you mentioned. The sword play I didn't have a problem with. It wasn't really a button masher. It was more about timing. I actually liked the fighting system. I liked the assassinations, that was just a small fraction of what the game was. But as Ben Yahtzee Crowshaw said, it probably wouldn't have sold as well had it been called "Faffing About Creed." The bulk of the missions were very repetitive making me feel as if this game was more of a glorified demo of sequels to come.

I do agree it was too easy. I didn't follow the hype, so playing it was the first time I really saw anything about it.

the sword play was good but like you said its more about timing, but too much for a game that has the name ASSASSIN it it.

yeah the combat was so dumb, every time there was an assasin mission - even the last one

i just jump right in, alert everyone - get in a corner, its a 20 on 1 - and i just take them down one by one with the counter attack

ridiculous

the only thing that really made me mad was all the crazy guys pushing me all the time. most of the time they pushed me into a guard, which set them off.

personally i would give it about an 8.5 or so because of the excellent idea and visuals but the repetition got to me eventually and the lack of depth in the quests did as well but the end i thought was nice lol

Yeah! That is what annoyed me as well. The one bit with the stealth element and they just kept pushing me! Grrrr

I like the idea of what Assassins Creed is about with the whole hidden history-magical artifact thing.

I loved the game.
