Is it when you see the credits? Or get every achievement you think you can? Or get all the achievements in a game?

Some, like Burnout Paradise have the credits roll after getting the A license but there is still the Elite license to go. Obviously the game isn't finished so I was wondering at what point do you call the game finished?

When I finish the single player campaign and after I watch the credits. I don't bother with getting achievements, trophys, or online play.

When I've done everything there is to do in the game that I feel like doing. Which is usually quite a bit, depending on the game. I may go all the way with one game, but I may choose to barely play another. It's all about how I feel. Though generally, a game isn't inbetween "finished" and "completed" for me if I haven't at least completed the main singleplayer portions of it.

Whenever I see the ending credits, I normally consider it completed. Not to say that that's it but it's still completed. After I've stop playing it (probably from boredom) I'll consider myself "finished" with it.

Once the credits roll, the game is essentially dead to me. Unless it's a game that can be quickly beaten like a fighting game where the credits mean nothing, then I play till there's no more interest, then it's finished.

I would call a game truly finished when you have completed on all difficulties, gained all achievements and generally played the game to death. However multiplayer options can't really finish as you may want to come back to them at some point (unless nobody is playing the game!)

A game is beaten' when you complete the main quest. You complete a game when you've done everything there is to be done. I'm finished with a game when it gets boring.

This is it ^ I haven't finished the single player of FEAR yet, and I don't I ever will. Once I realized that that game was boring for me, it was finished. It leaves the book only once every two weeks when I am super bored. GoW2 on the other hand is different. I played through the single player 3 times, single player run was on hardcore, still working on achievements and I don't think I'll stop playing any time soon. For me GoW2 is not finished yet.

Single Player games, I usually only play through the story mode and then once the credits role once, unless I loved the game I'm done at that point.

It really depends on the game. For example, Bioshock, i considered it done when i beat it for the second time and got over 70% achievements. Then games like Rockband 2, i never really feel like i've beat them. For the most part though, when i get most of the achievements or feel that i've completed most that there is to do in the game.

When I've beaten it on the hard difficulty, amassed all the reasonable single-player achievements, and at least got my feet wet in the multiplayer.

"Beaten" to me means defeating the final boss and calling it a day.

"Finished" to me means that and getting all achievements. Unless, of course, they're ridiculously hard (Seriously...) or I can't get them yet (as wiith the Halo 3 achievements that are associated with the Mythic Map Pack).

I'm "finished" when I feel like i've seen what the game was showing me and I've beaten it and I feel positive about it. When i'm "done" with a game, it usually means that after some point in time, the negatives outweighed the positive and i'm no longer going to play the game. It doesn't matter whether i've beaten it or not. I'm "done" with most that i've purchased this gen.

What does difficulty have to do with complete? You are playing the same game. Maybe you would say it's a different experience on that setting but then you could say that about any setting. Anyways, when I've seen the credits I consider completed, but not finished like many have said.

It depends on the game. Say, CoD4 or WaW...I consider them completed when I beat them both on veteran. But a game like Grand Theft Auto, I consider complete when the main story is done. I'll still play the game, but in my mind I've completed what is required to be able to say, "I beat that game".

I consider a game to be "finished" after I see credits. Hopefully there will be a game that I decide to get all achievements on; I haven't played many games on the 360 though.

You can "play through" or "clock" a game, in my opinion.

You can simply play through the storyline/objectives -

or you can finish every single aspect the game has to offer and clock it.

When I see credits is when I feel comfortable enough to move onto a new game or replay the game from the beginning. Occasionally I'll go back and explore more or try and get special items, but usually I'll just restart a new game once the credits roll if I want to play it again.

I need to have completed the single player campaign atleast once and played to the point where I've had enough of it. I do like going after all 1000 GS, but if some have been made deliberately awkward I'm happy to just leave them. I'm not too bothered about online ranks. If I really enjoy the online side then they will come naturally.

Same thoughts. Some achievements are just too boring to get, and some games aren't good enough to replay on a harder difficulty or enjoy the multiplayer. But if the game is good, even after finishing it 100% I keep playing it.

I think you have 'finished a game' once you do all levels etc and watch the ending and credits. Then you have 'completed' a game is once you have done all achievements and there is nothing more to do on it.

When the credits roll and the fat lady sings, the game is "finished".

Doesn't mean it's done for me though, I might play it again right away if the campaign is really good or I might leave it on hiatus only to return to it later.
