I started up my 360 this morning to play a little Forza 2 before I went to work and I had to download a new update for the 360 (before I even put the game disc in). I'm current with updates as far as I know. The last update I downloaded was back in May, so I don't think that was it. I checked www.xbox.com/update, but didn't see any news on this. Did anyone else have to download it this morning? I wonder what it did.

i did and i'll tell you what it did,it killed my 360 ,after the update downloaded my 360 just shut off than turned back on and i got the flashing three red lights i hear about all the time,the update killed it,maybe it was just its time to die but it was strange how it happened at the same time.

Wow, that's crap! Sorry. :? Yeah, mine didn't do that after the update.
Mine did the exact same thing!!! I was doing the August download when all of a sudden the 360 shut off (I assume it shut off on it's own since I was talking to my roommate for a minute and then noticed it was off). When I tried to turn it back on I got the ring of death. Ugh!!! Worst part is that I'll have to send my system in and in the meantime won't be able to play games like Madden, Tiger Woods, BioShock and Test Drive (just bought it the other day, still in the wrapper!!). I just pray I get it back before Halo 3 comes out.
Mine seems to take longer to boot up from the title screen.DbleBassDrummer
As strange as that sounds, I agree mine like got stuck there for a bit. It also shut off which a high pitched whine, and then it took forever to get past the title screen
If the update was just for the wireless guitar controllers than why did my wallpaper change to a p0rn picture of a xxx celebrity? Not that I mind or anything. Did this happen to anyone else?
Yeah when I got it yesterday, it sounded like my box shut off pretty hard and it took a while to load back up. But as far as I know it is ok now *knocks on wood*

Ya mines restarted and it showed the 360 logo and stayed like then I had to turn it off then on
wow i tried to update this morning but nothing was happening so i unpluged the net cable n played some xbox games till now. i jump on to see if people are saying if it works now but all i see is 360s dieing and virus and all kinds of nasty things....mass hacker attack or just bad move on MS with a bad update. i'm gonna wait for a little to update to see if things calm down n watnot. ::shivers::
