Av cable problem plez help

hi, i am having a huge problem with this av cable. before i was able to play in hd but now when i switch to hd nothing happens in the screen only different scrambledcolours come up but the sound is clear. but when i switch it back to normal mode it works fine

It's probably a bad cable but could possibly be the system. I had an HD switch cable that regular A/V quit working on. But I also had a system display scrambled colors like you said. That was the graphics chip frying or something and I had to send it in. Best bet is to get another set of cables. If they work you will know it isn't a system problem. Best check the cables at the TV end also and make sure everything is plugged in correctly and the HD signal is accepted by your TV. I once hooked up the wrong cable and got sound with no picture.

This may seem like a dumb question but when switching to the HD option you are using the component video (R, G, B) and not composite (Y) right? I also had a similar problem before I went to an HDTV. My problem was with the TV, for some reason it would not display component video although it had component inputs. I tried all the component inputs before I finally just settled with composite, a few weeks later (thankfully) the TV died. I tried the component again, with my new Bravia, and they worked fine. Needless to say I'm on HDMI now, 1080p FTW!!!
