Backwards Compatible Games

Howdy, I was looking at the backwards compatible games and I was wanting to play a few of them. I was wondering if I need any special software or any updates for them to run on my Xbox 360.

Note: I have live and I do the regular Live updates

Same, I bought it for 10 bucks a few weeks ago only to realise afterwards it wasn't BC. I'm just gonna hang onto it and hope it might get updated. I doubt it though.
