Im very upset by the fact that Mass Effect is coming to the ps3....but not the reason why most ppl would think. Now if you have played both mass effects then you know it is the most unique series out todate. You not only get deeply invovled with the world and your spicific Shepard But your relationships with your crew and your love interests. Then to play Mass Effect 2 and watch even the most tiny decision in ME1 come across in the second one. Not only do you feel like (man i know who that is) but you feel your apart of whats going on cause you made it happen, like meeting the Asari you let live in Zu's hope, or the reaction you get if you killed Rex. Those add to what makes Mass Effect 2 such an amazing game. Now if you are a ps3 only owner and you pick up the game im sure you will think this is a great game but its so much more to it and they will never get the chance to experience that. I understand watching games like red dead blow up on multi consoles makes you see green i can't be mad at that but when you make a game like this and you set it to be an exclusive its hard to turn back. The first game bioware had already made a deal for it to be only on xbox. so now cause you wanna get in on the green you are going throw out a half experience for the ps3 owners who will never be able to experience what we have and thats not fair, and if you decided to pick up the first on the pc or somthing like that you might as well keep going on that platform! I just think its a waste! Its not like other series where you can go on youtube and see what you missed! M.E is your experience and what you want it to be.

Hmmm.... I've never played either of the Mass Effect games, but by what you are implying, I should never buy them, even for my 360, because it is too late? I will never get a chance to experience the "so much more to it" aspect?

Let's say there are other gamers out there like myself, who have never even seen a single video of the game or read a walkthrough...

They shouldn't buy it either?

Sorry, but the idea of that isjust absurd.

well since me1 is owned by microsoft that would be why its not gonna happen on ps3. But hell why are you pissed off? They can play it on pc and then take the choices given in the 'comic book style' catch up they get with ps3 me2 they did in me1. sure its not ideal but its fine and still gives the choices they made.

and im sure i read somewhere alot who played me2 didnt play me1. I certainly have a lot of mates who went to me1 after playing me2 as they missed it first time and they never cared.

If you have already played it then whats the fuss? your not missing anything it just sounds like a bitter rant to me that ps3 are getting a great game that was 'exclusive' (console wise).

Heck ill be playing it on ps3 again just to have a excuse to play it again.

The first Mass Effect really wasn't all that good, ME2 was the game that Mass Effect was meant to be and was suitably incredible. Besides, if you don't have an ME save the game just fills in the "best" possible ending to the first game for you. Beyond that, you probably wouldn't even know that certain things were based on past decisions in the first game unless you had actually played the first game, so I disagree with your point that you lose some of the experience. Ignorance is bliss, friend. Basically, there's really no reason to force players to slog through the horrendous side quests and slow pace of ME1 when they could just hop onto ME2 and really experience the universe correctly the way it was meant to be. And for those of you wondering what happened in ME1, you find out an advanced race of intelligent spaceships are going to invade and kill everyone. You kill their scout, Sovereign, before he can open a portal to the other baddies, and the invasion is delayed unti lthe start of ME2. Congrats, you just beat Mass Effect. :)

Wait.... so he isn't saying that "Mass Effect 1" is coming to the PS3, but Mass Effect 3? Or is it 2?

Sorry TC. I thought you meant that the first game was being released to the PS3, and that you were upset because PS3 owners were just coming late to the game and the story might not be a surprise to them.

Oops.

No...it certainly is not.

What they should do is show the events of the first game and allow players to choose what they wanted their character to do for the more major decisions like Ashley/Kidan, Wrex, killing the bug, etc.

Bioware is including a interactive comic that'll allow the PS3 gamers to experience Mass Effect first hand, and allow them to make some of the choices from the first game and use that in ME2. Sure it may not be as good as actually playing the game, but I trust Bioware will do a good job of introducing PS3 owners to the ME series. Plus, they get all the DLC for free, not a bad deal.

I don't see why Bioware trying to increase their profits is a bad decision, most of the PS3 gamers I've talked to are excited about playing ME2 even though they can't play the first.

I can understand that point of view, but I think the vast majority of Bioware fans are angry with the company for abondoning the RPG genre starting with Mass Effect 2. It looks like they are doing the same with Dragon Age 2 and they are also making an online multiplayer Mass Effect spin off inspired by Call of Duty 4... Biowarehas become painfullymainstream

i agree with you...i hate bioware for deciding they are putting mass efect on the ps3....the ps3 is a dumb console and should be thrown in the garbage...

your simple mind would say something like that.

Yea Mass Effect 1 won't be ported over, just 2. This so both consoles will have 3. This leaves those who jump into 2 a little lost since 2 builds off of 1.

Like the TC said, just bioware getting in on that green. A smart move would be to put both games on a single blu-ray disc. $$$

I'm not angry that Mass Effect 2 is coming out on the PS3, I think it's great that they can experience a good game for once, even with the odd 'comic book' thing they're getting...

What does make me angry, whoever, is the fact that they will be getting all of the existing DLC, for free, on disc, and as far as I've heard, there are no plans to make it up to existing 360 and PC fans.

It's basically a GOTY Edition of a multi-platform game, only coming out on one platform! It's pretty unfair, and I've liked Bioware for a long time, but frankly, EA buying them has been a turning point for the worse for them, I'm considering just getting Mass Effect 3 pre-owned, a little while after launch.

What this guy said. Also, on the flip side of what TC is saying, they might have a better experience. I played ME1 a long time ago and have most likely forgotten all of my decisions except for SPOILER.......killing Wrex. Just off the top of my head, that is the only decision that I made that I remember, maybe something in 2 might jog my memory though. I have had ME2 for a while and played it a little bit but it hasn't captured me yet like the first one did.

I don't care about any of those series but since a lot of people do, yes I would want more people to be able to play them.

Not that I would not want to go on other consoles. The fewer the number of people to experience that the better.

Well, if they give us something like Demon Souls we can give them Fable. If we give them Gears of War they can give us Killzone.

The Xbox 360 forum is a place to discuss the 360 and its games, not the PS3.
