Batman Arkham Asylum Demo opinions

Coming in at a heft 1,5GB i was surprised to find less than 15 minutes of gametime in this demo but what a 15 minutes!

The graphics are fantastic,though a few minor clipping issue's etc and the voice acting was first class,mix that with the great animations and it created some of the best cutscense iv seen so far.

The Joker is portrayed brilliantly and Harley Quinn is disturbingly shmexy lol

Batman looks great,Rocksteady have gone with a very muscular look.

The gameplay was very good,though i found the combat to be a bit to much of a button masher but it did look great to watch and the counters had a nice brutal feeling to it.

You only get the tutorial and then 1 room to really play in,but in that room you can experiment with many diffrent takedowns and tactics.

My fave so far is an Inverted Takedown,where Batman hangs above an unsuspecting guard and then grabs him and hangs him from the rafters,freaking out the other guards. you can then aim a Batarang at the rope to make him fall to the ground and freak out the other guards even more.

The fear factor was great to play with,at one point i had a guard so terrified he was shooting at every sound he heard and gibbering in terror.

It really made me feel like Batman as i planned my next move.

Whats every one else's thoughts on the demo?

Yeah, They did go with an extraordinarily muscled Batman. His arm is Bigger than my head! Anyways, I found the demo to be quite enjoyable. Graphics look good, sound wise it's fine (Although I found the Henchmen repeating the same one line over and over, "Where'd He go? Ah, The hell with it"), but what I found was the most enjoyable was the batarang. I wish they would have incorporated a few more gadgets in the demo.

I've only played through it once, I only managed to get the guards nervous. I'm going to go play through it a few more times trying the tactics you used. I didn't even know you could cut the rope with the batarang. AWESOME!

i played it once so far, thought it was really good. but im just a little concerned with the replay value of the game......

i like pullin out combos higher than 6 hits... and getting that special attack(i think it's Y+B), the gameplay is so fluid, can't wait for the real game, hope I can complete Shadow Complex before it comes out.

Gonna download the demo soon as this is on my definate buy list, good to hear than it plays well. Very reassuring.

The demo was great, a bit too short though. The combat felt satisfying and the controls were fluid. I'll probably buy it at some point.

I figured out how to really freak them out. I had no Idea you could cut the guys down with the Batarang. Does anyone know how to break the wall and the glass in the demo?

i like it, its the nice muscular dark gritty detective batman i know and love and i like how they used mark hamills voice for joker

Oh, I just read the other posts...It'd be awesome if they gave you the Explosive Gel in the Demo.

the video at the end of the demo shows that there will be some detective work in the game, so thats a plus... looking for the riddler's puzzles are another plus... reminds me of finding all the stars in Mario 64, I like additions like that in games... whole lotta replay value

is it true he can't jump? So no jump attacks??? I think he looks too muscular to be supposedly that agile. :)

To break the glass ceilings walk ontop of it and wait for a guard to walk below it then press Y when the icon appears. I love the demo i keep loading the last checkpoint in the last room to mess with the guards.xxmatt125xx

HA! iv played this demo about 15 times now and i only just found out that if you double tap A while running around Batman will do a diving rollxxW0LFxxLHG

I love the demo although I wish it was longer. Well, i'm gonna go preorder it at gamestop now.

Demo was amazing. For once they've managed to capture the right setting and atmosphere, everything about it just feels so right. Defiently going to purchase it on release day.

Yeah actually really enjoyed this. Looks great and the controls are really nice and fluid. Looking forward to it coming out.

This demo is definitely one of the best I've ever played. I was disappointed by the length but it was a very fun and action packed 15-20 minutes. However, I'm worried about how much replay value the actual game will have, which makes me hesitant to put down $60 for it.

replay value? u can do all the riddles even after youve finished the campaign, then theres the challenge rooms so if ur like me ull be trying to better your score all the time for those. ill probably playing this game till borderlands comes out :D and even then ill play it now and again

Ya, me too. 1.5 gigabytes for 20 minutes of gameplay. Its still fun to replay and change your tactics though

Truely amazing. It will be my first gaming purchase since Halo Wars. Fluid, sleak and fun. It's dark while at the same time keeping the lighter elements found in the original comics. While the demo is short and I'm concerned with replay and the length of the final game it's going to be a definate buy for myself.

YEah, I agree. Constantly mashing the "X" button to attack can get dull. But there are counters and stun attacks that might keep it interesting.
