Anyway, I don't really like either of them anymore because of how bad the community is an all of the cheating, but I'm a lot better at Gears so I'll say Gears.

this isnt a fair comparison, one of the bestnext generation games versus halo 2. obviously gears of war will win in every category. except online, halo 2 still owns online

^^^yea we got that i think, just leave it alone we all know what he meant. As for the question, it is tough to answer because technically they r on 2 different systems however i prefer gearsto that ofhalo 2. But togive some future insight, halo 3 will b better than gears in more ways than not. But by the time gears of war ends its run, with the third game if im not mistaken, it will be much better. But who knows we might be talking about the next next gen when that time comes.:D
Since very few people can look past the FPS thing, I will show them how to just ignore it and answer the question you were trying to ask (which was obviously which shooter do you prefer out of the two). My fave is Gears of War easy. Halo 2 has nothing on it and the Halo 3 beta has less on it. So yeah, Gears all the way.
Gears is a little to slow for me, the single player was ok but the online for me might as well not be there at all, blind firing shotguns at each other and praying that one of your shots hits the other guy before one of his shots hit you is for suckers. Socom is pretty good because you are not blind firing. But anyways the main difference in FPS's and TPS's is that FPS's usually move faster than TPS's unless its a tactical shooter and FPS's take a little bit more sense since you cant see as much as you can in a TPS, so there is a big difference, comparing an FPS to a TPS is not like comparing Madden to NCAA Football, it is like comparing Madden to NBA Live, they are both sports but two complety different sports with different rules and gameplay.
