Whatever if the weapons are cool i will buy them. Just to let you know this should be a blog post.WMDfreeman99
What exactly differentiates a blog post and a forum post? thats pretty dumb.
Anyway, I agree with the OP. trying to create recurring revenue from a game is one thing. Charging me because I would like to use a different gun is just retarted. Absolutely retarded. I hate EA...

Apparently everything in this forum should be a blog post. Seriously, next time you're thinking about saying that, just don't. Practically every topic I enter someone tells the TC that they shouldn't crowd their forums when they could write in their blog. I'm sorry, but I don't want to see an entire front page with arguments about CoD4 vs. Halo 3, which seem to be the only ones capable of avoiding such criticism.

Couldn't agree more. Also that kid is clearly the type that EA is banking on. 'Meh, Whatever, I'll pay, Im a sheep, heres my money for nothing' etc etc kind of attitude instead of taking a stand.
No one is making you buy these things, Making a thread complaining about it is worthless. Ranting topics should be left in blogs not thread. So just relax. Dont get this worked up about video games..geez.
If the weapons are cool and makes the game better why not. Sure they are just making more money. Whateve, who said being a gamer was a cheap hobbie? Your right those halo vs cod threads should be blog post. I made a statment no need to get mad or call me a sheep. Just relax
If they dont offer an advantage as they say they the stats of the new wepaons must not be any better than existing ones so therefore the difference is just cosmeticvitriolboy
A sniper rifle doesn't necessarily give you an advantage over someone with an assault rifle. But, they allow you to use different tactics. Presumably, these new weapons will offer "equal" weapons that still give the player a tremendous advantage by allowing them to use different tactics.
Why dont they put the guns in the game now before its released?
Its just dumb, and I bet that the guns cant be picked up during a battle

This is exactly the same type of response people made when all the Xbox 360 owners were complaining about their RROD. The fact is, all the complaining CAN make a difference.

EA is all about money duh~~~~ thats why no one wants them have take 2 because gta series will be ruined
just like any other game that EA owns

That is fine, I understand what you are saying. I just see this as a good blog post. Also complaining on forums does not get much done. Only when the developer is requesting feed back. This also goes for people saying that xbl should be free. People will complain about it but still pay for the service. Samething here..

I'm not complaining because I want to vent. I'm stating that I'm refusing to pay for the extra weapons, that it's a sleazy tactic, and I'm encouraging other people to refuse to buy the extra content as well.
Obviously, if people pay for the content than this won't make any difference. But, if enough people complain and refuse to buy it, it can have a tremendous impact on EA (and other companies thinking about trying the same thing.)
Not trying to fight with you. You do have a point. Its EA's IP and can charge if they want, which they will. Yeah it sucks but if i want it i will pay for it. Some companies are money hungry and others not as much. If you dont like their tactics then dont buy their products. WMDfreeman99
You're right, they are definitely allowed to charge for it. But, the consumers will decide whether this is a successful business venture or not.
I think that if this is a successful tactic, it will really hurt all gamers. One of the most important aspects of online gaming is creating a level playing field. If you, as a gamer, feel that the guy who keeps killing you has an unfair advantage (as opposed to just being better than you) it really ruins the experience.
Again, this isn't the same as charging for extra maps or some cosmetic feature. The company can charge for those things to expand the universe in which you can play their game. But, it doesn't give you a leg up on the competition.
Wow Im so tired of all these damn developers trying to nickel and dime me. Too bad I was looking forward to this game, looks like I wont be geting it now. metocman1
sad thing is its the publishers that give the develppers a bad rep. the develpoers wanted gears of war and halo maps to be free but micro$oft made them charge us.

Stop trying to be a mod. BTW TC I think its another plot to gain money look at who we're looking at EA!!!

People keep saying that it's only happening because EA is making the game. I don't think that's the case.
EA may start this trend (I know DLC has been around for quite some time, but I don't know of any other console games that sink to this new low) but all the other game makers are going to follow suit if EA makes a ton of ca$h off of this.

If you really believed that you should have put this exact post in your blog and not in this thread. Seriously, what you did today is a blog post. Giving information with an opinion asking for others, like done in this thread, is a perfectly possible thread.

lol...yea, I'm not sure why a call to boycott a product is better suited for a blog than a forum post.
EA is going to be selling a set of weapons for the upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company as downloadable content, but they claim "more weapons offer players more choices but do not create an advantage/disadvantage for players who do not opt to buy new item."
What a bunch of B.S.! Selling maps is one thing, but giving players who spend the cash different weapons is where I draw the line. By paying for a new map, you only play against (or with) other players who have the same maps. But, with different weapons, vehicles, etc, if the change is anything other than cosmetic, it ruins the online experience.
I'm not buying them and I encourage other gamers to do the same. If EA's sleazy move is successful, you're going to see this tactic spread like wild-fire in all sorts of games.JoelWhy
I totally understand your argument, but just look at what EA has done with other games recently.
NFS Prostreet - you can buy DLC that gives you new faster cars, makes the very expensive cars free, and gives you all the very rare stage 4 top level parts for every car. That's not fair, but because there are people out there who pay to get unfair advantages, EA rewards them and caters for them with more DLC packs.
Next thing we will see is EA charging for ammo in your guns. You can have the first 5 rounds for free, but the rest of the magazine will cost you 10 EA Dollars. Want armour piercing rounds in that rifle? It'll cost you. Want to reload your gun? not without paying you won't. You just gotta love "free" gaming :D
I have a suspicious feeling that these sarcastic lines might come true in the near future. Watch this space...
