Why cant they just donate anyway? I'm sure they've got the the money to spare after the mental success of halo. Sorry but some of us already have stuff ot spend money on and dont like the fact that our various governments are giving money to foreign countries when we cant even afford our own problems :) so no bungie can donate if the want but I shant be

You know of course that not only are they donating 100% of the tshirt sales to the Red Cross. Not just the tshirts, they're donating ALL of their Bungie store profits through the end of February.

Even if you don't want to give a monetary amount, Bungie will be donating $100 for every thousand people that are playing Halo 3 and ODST on the 20th/21st with the heart emblem, up to $77,000.

They are using the success of the game to raise awareness and make people feel like they're contributing. Don't be a douche and try to turn this into something political or philisophical. Give or participate... or not. But don't turn this into a debate.

Wow ten cents per person go big spenders. This is just a way to form more hype around Halo, if they break some sort of record for active players for a day or something.

I'm not being a "douche" and sorry but politics is deeply routed in these things and I think that if we're going to have money donated anywhere it should be to the problems we still havent dealt with in our own countries ... cant afford to give away money thats needed at home, hence politics is unavoidable.

This isn't the right time or place for a debate. Participate, or not. It's up to you. Here are the details:

http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=news&cid=24356

"We are rallying our fan community to show their support by playing Halo 3 or ODST online next Wednesday or Thursday while wearing a special emblem signifying your commitment to the cause. For every thousand heroes that participate, we will make a $100 donation on behalf of Bungie and our fan community to the Red Cross for Haiti relief efforts, up to a maximum of $77,000. All you have to do is don a special emblem and play a game online and know that you've done a small part to help those in need.

Please mark your calendars and help spread the word!

Here are the specifics:

1. Round up all of your friends and hop online with Halo 3 or ODST any time next from 00:01AM PST Wednesday, 1/20, through 23:59PM PST Thursday 1/21.

2. Edit your appearance settings so your character is wearing the RED HEART emblem.
a. Press START
b. Select "SETTINGS" / "APPEARANCE"
c. Select "EMBLEM"
d. Select "Hearts" ICON, "Circle" BACKGROUND
e. Back out to the APPEARANCES menu and select "COLORS"
f. Set "EMBLEM PRIMARY" to RED (or MAROON / BRICK / ROSE depending on which game you're playing!)
g. Set "EMBLEM SECONDARY" to WHITE

3. Once your emblem is set, play! This can be a custom game or a matchmaking game, just make sure it's played online, on Xbox LIVE, or we can't track it.

If you keep playing more games through midnight on Thursday, KEEP THE HEART EMBLEM ENABLED or you may not get counted."

How about you donate more then if it's such a small amount? Sheesh, how cynical can you get?

Oh my god, i thought people would see these as a neat idea coming from Bungie. I guess not, my god. No ones forcing you to participate, people act like Bungie is holding a gun to their head saying "BUY THE TSHIRT NOW!" If you want to help fine, if you don't fine but you don't need to whine about it.
