I never get to enjoy the demo, I start the game, and it's over. 3 minutes demo? You have got to be kidding me. Ok, release a timed demo, but gives us some time to play it!danlher
ya lol when i find the game for $20 ill buy it
The ONLY thing I don't like about the demo is it does not give you an actual sense of the "point". Katamari is basically a puzzle game. If it was not a demo but the actual game, you would have a goal.
The goal is either a certain size limit within a certain amount of time or pick up certain types of things within a certain amount of time.
So maybe the goal would be 4m (4mm?? I live in the US for crying out loud LOL)in the 3 minutes. You don't pass the level unless you get it that big in that amount of time. The other scenerio is like, "Mars is a very hot planet, pick up as many hot things as you can in X amount of time", in which case your goal is not to get it big but to get it HOT by picking up hot items. I own all the other Katamari games and while the demo gives you a sense of what you'll be doing, there is no goal, and therefore no sense of the POINT of the game.
However I'm glad you guys found it enjoyable and addictive, I know I did, if you havn't got your ball to 4m yet, make that a personal goal and THAT will give you a sense of what the game will actually be like.
When I first saw this game on the PS2, I thought it was the dumbest thing ever, but now Im kinda on the fence about it, still dont know if its a $60 purchase, maybe I'll check out the demo.

I thought it was the dumbest thing ever but then I played it and got addicted. It's just hilarious and has one of the best soundtracks. I love the original japanese story, where the king just got drunk one night and knocked the stars down haha.
Is this demo US only? I can't find it in marketplace...Stealth-Gunner
umm not sure, I just got it yesterday, it may be out later for other countries...sorry I cant be much help, i just saw it and downloaded it.

Thanks I was wondering what the actual point of this game was. Seems kind of fun and if it were and XBLA game I might buy it but for $40? seems likea waste of money. Especially with all the great games that are coming out soon. Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo 3, Call Of Duty 4, Assassins Creedand errrr katamari... hmmm

Yup, I have it man, I live in Ontario.
I find this game disgustingly pathetic. Whats the big deal about this? I mean, it's not another next-gen game but a stupid, lame japanese 2D graphic game which should have never set foot on 360.Alpha172
Obviously you don't really "get" the game. Even when it came out on PS2, the graphics were WAY outdated, but it wasn't supposed to have great graphics to begin with and it's still a cult classic game.
It's all about VERY simple yet addicting gameplay, and meant to be played by all ages. Every game isn't supposed to be a graphics showcase, nor be complex to the point where only "gamers" can enjoy it.
Katamari is a unique title that MANY fell in love with, calling it "disgustingly pathetic" is pretty harsh. That's fine if it's not your style, but apparantly it hit a soft spot with a lot of gamers around the globe.
Well it is going to sell for $40 so you shouldn't feel too odd if you buy it. I know I will. wmc540
maybe for $20 i'll get it, but no way for $40

yes i dowloaded it a few days ago.
btw in canada i can download it just fine. Demos and Trailers are not restricted by the CRTC as far as i know.pigonthewing
Is it under New Demos? I looked there, at individual categories but no luck...
How is it 40 bucks? It looks exactly like it did on ps2 and that cost 20 bucks. The first one anyway, the 2nd was 30, how is this one 40? BlueTimberMaybe it has more content? I don't know. It's probably just because games sell at higher prices these days. $60 for the standard game is very, very painful.

I bet you haven't even played the demo yet tennisacerg.
i haven't actually played it, but i have watched a certain somebody play it, but it doesn't look appealing as a sports, racing, or war game
I think most of the negative comments towards this game are from close minded people, or those who critize it without even playing it. Games aren´t all about the graphics!Of course i like flashy games and all that, but if a game has only good graphics and lacks originality etc what's the point of it??
I've played the 2 katamari games released for ps2, and the gameplay is so addictive!Too bad this demo is too short...it doesn't let new players get a good glimpse of the game.
Just think of it as a good alternative if you want to play something different.

Look at this guy who says this game it's not so appealing as sports, racing or war games...still he plays shrek....LOL
I'll definitely be picking Beautiful Katamari up. The first 2 Katamari games were addictive.
The Beautiful Katamari demo is short because it's only supposed to give you a taste of what the Katamari series is about. Most of the early levels in Katamari Damacy and We Love Katamari were less than 3 minutes. You've got to earn your way up to the marathon rounds.
