whats the best AI you have encountered in a FPS? cuz i really want a game that is going to be a great deal of fun without crappy AI

Best AI that you play with to me was Left 4 Dead, one of the best, there always there to help and save you and have pretty decent aim.

Gears 2 has pretty decent AI even though its a TPS. They can really frustrate you cause you will have a pack of locust pinned down, and then the leader will call out for tickers. If youve played Gears 2 you know how annoying those can be, esspescially on the harder difficulties.nate_c-12

Unreal tournament 3 had really hard bots on GOD Mode. My favorite AI teamates was in cod 4, and worst were in cod 5 and gears 2 on insane because in cod 5 your teamates either die in one shot, or don't die because they are vital to the storyline, and gears 2 they sometimes run in like idiots and get downed and you have to save them, and the enemy bots are a lot better in private matchs.Skudd78

L4D also has an AI that keeps track of how well you and your team is playing, If you move too fast it will keep dropping zombie hordes on you if you should fall behind a smoker will pull you even further back stuff like that keeps the game feeling fresh and exciting even though there are only 4 levels and a few guns.

You asked about Far Cry 2. Sounds like you want enemy A.I. and Far Cry 2 gets it done. The conflicts seems very much real.

Also I would say F.E.A.R. is the best in this category but it my not be your type of game. idk?

i wanna have to think and plan out my first shot and plan out my defence and be tried to be killed. ai that will work together to kill me

gears 2 and even if you nit pick, the only bad thing is that they dont always hide behind cover well.

far cry 2 has decent AI but the crappy animation and awkward movement kills it for me.

yeah.. i want a smart AI. one that will work as a unit to get to me and kill me.. i dont want an enemy that takes a million rounds to kill. a strategic enemy

I think F.E.A.R. has the best enemy AI of any game I've played. Their teamwork and cover system was just amazing.jirca87

Agreed...the theme of the game was based around action horror and the AI made it even worse!!! Awsome game.

I wasn't a fan of far cry 2, I like my stealth and strategy, but I never really found that planning an assualt was much better than not. I guess the AI was ok, not great, they just seemed to slowly crowd around you.
I've no idea why people said Dead Space, they're zombies, they either walk or run towards you. Nice atmosphere though.(That wasn't a pun)
In Left4Dead the AI is there for you. Which is sometimes annoying, but works well. I wouldn't say the enemies work together.

All I can remember of Fear is going into slo-mo and the enemies pushing cupboards and things over for cover, smart asses. Is there a Fear 2 out soon/now?

Its a tough question though. Nice graphics, special abilities and things usually cover up poor AI that just runs at you or just hides and takes potshots.
