yes, i've done it before, i'm not sure if it's any different in your 2nd year of the warranty, but it is for the 1st.
You can take your hard drive and switch it, unless if you get some complete dumbass who doesn't know anything about best buy or anything else related. I had a girl at the counter and she seemed like she had done it all before so it was real quick and easy..and when i asked to switch the hard drive, it was no problem. So yea it's real simple just go in there bring the 360 and replacement plan booklet up to the counter, they'll scan it and make sure it matches, then they tell you to grab a 360 that matches your model. You go over grab a 360 if they have one in stock, then they check to see everythings in both boxes, and then they switch the hard drive if you ask..real easy.
I have a question. Say you made use of the warranty this one time and a year or so later your new 360 breaks down again. Can you swap it out at Best Buy again under their warranty? or is the swap out a one time only thing?PikaPichu
As long as your under warrenty you can swap. If they say no what you do is you argue with them. Tell them your a loyal customer and what not.

Oh okay. I've asked that to the employees many times in the past and could never get a straight answer from them. :?

Because they will never tell u what I just told you. All you have to do is argue with them, say you demand to speak wiht manager then manager says no..get them to call him again, annoy the heck outta him. Its all about customer service :)
I actually just got back from Best Buy and they said that I have to send it into Microsoft because it is a manufacter defect and the replacement plan does not cover that.
So tomorrow I am going to a different Best Buy and try to get my new xbox.

That sounds like a bunch of bullplop on BB's part. If it doesn't cover the red rings, then what the heck does it cover?

The heck...what else does it cover? Your dog coming and pooing on it?
I am customer service for best buy, tell him you got the ring of death then go get your premium box tell him you need to switch hard drives and your done...just don't forget you game in the system. had a few people do that before...
and for the manfacture defect it isn't whoever was behind the counter was a complete moron

Damn, I would have raised hell. If it breaks from a hardware defect, it's broken. I've switched mine out many times. You can get it replaced as many times as you want in the first year, then only once in the second year. They will then give you the option to renew your warranty.
has anybody sent away for a voucher instead of dealing with it in the store? If anybody has, how long did it take to get the voucher?hallackt
I have thought about it before, but I never did. I have been through quite a few consoles, and I was just going to send it away and get the gift card to buy something else, but there are too many games I want for Xbox 360, so I can't give up on it.
