I had a question about the Best Buy Product Replacement Plan (PRP)? I bought a Halo Edition today with the extended warranty, I told the cashier I wanted the Product Replacement Plan and he said ok. So I paid $60 for it. When I got home I noticed it said on the receipt: PSP #. I'm wondering if I got the Product Service Plan instead of the Replacement Plan? I also noticed on Best Buy's website it says under the Product Replacement Plan that you have to file a claim and send the unit it away and then they will send you a gift card for what paid for it.....instead of just taking it the store and them swapping you out for a new one. I wonder if anybody has had any problems with their Replacement Plan and had to send it away for the giftcardrather than just swap it out at your nearest store, and if so how long did the process take?

I'm going to once I get off work. I never trust Best Buy, majority of people that work there are kids that don't have definite answers. I bought a warranty for my laptop a few years ago and they didn't stand behing it. I had to shipp it out many times, and they never fixed the problem.

I know what you mean

honestly, i can't really help you since I didnt get their warranty but considering it says PSP i think that COULD be service...i would go back and argue and see if you can get some store credit or something!

I work for Best Buy.

The Xbox 360 is not a servicable product like a TV or computer. So Best Buy only sells PRPs (Replacement Plans) for these products.

Its a one time exchange through the store for a brand new product and you can keep your original hard-drive if you so choose.

I just grabbed my receipt and it does say PSP #, however above it, it clearly says 2 year xbox PRP.

Yes, it is a PRP and No you have nothing to worry about. :)

BTW I work in Geek Squad. I know a lot about Best Buy because I have been there for over a year.

The PSP for computers covers hard-ware issues. One the 4th qualifying hardware repair it falls under the No-Lemon policy for an exchange.

Unfortunately the exchange process is not up to the store, but up to the morons at the Service Center. They have to determine that it eiter qualifies for the exchange through the No Lemon policy or its not economical for repair.

Through my experience (no offense to the two employees that posted), alot of people that work at Best Buy have no idea what is going on and if you are persuasive and seem to know what you are talking about they will give in. I am getting ready to get my xbox replaced at the nearby store as soon as they restock the elite that comes with two free games. Just hold onto your receipt and you will be fine.

Yea a lot of people have no idea about a lot of stuff with Best Buy. :)

I was like that when i first started. There's so much to learn. It takes a while. Some people never learn though... :P

My Best Buy ran out of elites then out next shipement 2 weeks later was the Elites with the two games.

I got that elite! :D

The 2 games are bundled into one box that says Not for resale. So i guess no trade-in value whatsoever?

There is no way for Best Buy to service any video game console. We can only exhange them.

Its impossible to sell a PSP for a 360. It does say PSP#213322131321 or what not on the receipt, but above it, it says PRP.

Trust me it's a PRP.

That is what I plan to do once I get off work. I could see down the road them saying that you only have the Service Plan and you will have to send it away to get fixed and not replaced. I'm sure its not a big deal since other people said that it has PSP on their receipt on this forum, but I just want to be extra safe.

I just got done talking with customer service. They said that is all they offer is the PSP plan. He says that only offer one plan for the 360. He says that if there are any problems with it they just exchange them out. Is that true, anybody that works for best buy? Is there only one plan available for the 360?

The day the Elites came out I walked in w/ my Premium and swapped it out and had to pay $79 for the new service plan on the Elite. No problem.

I got a question for the best buy employees. Well theres a really good deal going on with assassins creed and COD4, where u get them both for agood price. thursdays the last day of the sale, and thursday is alsothe projected day for assassins to come out according to best buy. So if i go into best buy on wednesday lets say, beforethe day its availableat best buy, can i get a raincheck for both items at the discounted price before the release date? Or would i have to go in on thursday and get a raincheck that day, if its sold out?

Keep in mind that these ppl "just work there". Not alot of them take alot of pride in their job or go out of there way to educate themselves about every product code there is in the store. My reciept for the service plan for my Elite was for a PS3 and was more expensive than the PSP service plan.

Yah you had to pay 79 for the Elite because that is a different price bracket it goes $300-399 - plan is $59.99 and $400 is $79.99 I believe.
