Best Class To Be On Mass Effect

I was just wondering what the best class is to be on Mass Effect because I bought the game and have been playing it on a soldier class as a first time. I did not really know what all the powers were like but the point is i am not really into it and it seems like the sort of game i like, is it to do with the solider class, becausei am not too far in to restart (just at the first vehicle bit)

Soldier-You can be skilled in every weapon and wear Heavy armor. I love to run gun so this is the class for me. And before anyone says, "but what about biotics and whatnot?". That would be why I have Wrex, he's good with guns and powers.

I'll soon be getting ME and pretty excited since I LOVE rpg's.... Any suggestions before I start my first playthrough?

im not sure what class i started with is called (its the one with the biotic powers and pistol+shotgun) but its awesome. at first i regretted it because i couldnt use the sniper rifle, but once i started upgrading and using the biotics, it made combat so much more fun

The vanguard is the most fun, but the soldier is the most effective.

Well I've only dived into the soldier class but I find it the best for "unity" I believe it's called. It's basically an AoE revive of your teammates when they're down, not sure whether it's the best class or not but it certainly seems to be the most forgiving (unless the unity perk comes with all classes).

I started out on Vanguard, using all the biotics and getting close quarters kills makes the game more engaging.

My favorites are the 'pure' classes with a bonus skill:

1) Soldier w/Bonus Biotic Skill or Engineering Skill = FUN. Unlimited Grenades or Lift or...

2) Engineer w/Shotguns or Assault Rifles = FUN. Boomguns are my favorite though, just 'cause it looks cool.

3) Biotic w/Shotguns or Assault Rifles = FUN. Same as the engineer.

I've started the game again as a vanguard, so far it has seemed to be a good idea, but it has been slow to start
