My cousin is looking get to an elite 360 like the one I have.. and I've heard there was some good deals at dell.com or whatever. But I also heard that the new bundles with Halo 3 and Fable 2 don't have the new chips.. in fact they have the old ones that are prone to RROD. So I need some tips to make sure we geta system with the new chip and if there are any good deals going on.. oh, and it doesn't have to be an elite.. the 60gig model will do as well.

All of the chips are prone to RRoD; the newest one ("Jasper") has not yet been confirmed to be 100% immune to the error. The Falcon chip is fairly good in comparison, and only about 10% of them suffer from the RRoD, and I'm sure that percentage has decreased since it was statistically derived. BUT, if you're really content on getting a new Jasper chip 360, then I guess you should go for it, I guess. I don't see it making much of a difference, but it potentially could, and it doesn't hurt to go for it either. Since you seem to prioritize the including of a Jasper chip in your new console, I suggest looking around on Amazon, or even asking in stores that are having sales/clearances, and, if you're lucky, actually manage to ask an employee in store to help you confirm if the 360 on sale has a Jasper chip in it. I personally don't know of any actual store deals, so nothing in terms of that.

if it's an elite, it's probably the least prone to rrod...and elite has like 2 year warranty, and the newer made consoles are also much less prone to rrod

plus, you get halo 3 and fable 2 for free basically
