Try fallout 3. Objects fly everywhere when you set off an explosion or shoot with a rocket. I won't spoil but if you become evil in the game, you get to watch a nuke go off from miles away.
Fallout 3 and fallout new vegas have decent explosions but gears 2 rules in explosions...splosion man has good explosions since the game is all about explosions
Earth Defense Force has quite a few surprisingly huge explosions... Like, ones that take up the entire screen even though the robot you blew up was a mile away.
Some of the sound effects from JC2 are great as well... Like when you bail from a plane, it spirals out of control, and in the distance you near this faint...... ffffFFFWOOOMPF!.... and think, "I bet that looked cool".
Do you mean cool things happening to cause the explosions or just massive awe inspiring explosions? Because while a lot of games have cool things that result in explosions I'm not sure how you top Fallout 3's nuke and terms of massive awe inspiring explosions.
I've got Fallout 3 and I'm playing new Vegas right now. @ Agent_Kaliaver It doesn't really matter, either, but I guess I'd prefer more like weapons explosions. So far Chromehounds I think had decent explosions. It's been a while and I can't remember though lol. Also I like the ones in World in Conflict, ive got it on computer though and I have to say the explosions were pretty neat. So far it sounds like Bad Company 2 and Just Cause 2
I see your point, however I'm not going to run out and buy a $60 game just for explosions, I was thinking more along the lines of demos... Then in a while thats what ebays for ;)
While it may not look anything outstanding these days, I have always found something amazing about when the big building gets blown up at the end of one of the Russian levels on Call of Duty 2 after you set the charges. Possibly because it is satisfying to see after how frustrating/difficult it can be on veteran :P. Also, this is a very old game and the graphics aren't very good (personally), but I recently downloaded Duke Nukem 3D on Xbox Live Arcade and whenever a huge amount of damage happens to certain areas (sometimes it is triggered by simply walking through the level), it causes a chain reaction where sometimes, like a movie hero, you have to run back and dodge all of the explosions and if you don't you will die instantly. As already said, they don't LOOK amazing, but they are certainly amazing to be a part of! :D
